This game is there for the taking. I would love to see a new streak. I hope this team can put together some wins.

Personally I want Anderson to stay but actually having wins plural this season even if it’s 2 would be a lot less humiliating for fans and players so wouldn’t mind a mini streak

We'll have enough competition for open coaching positions at Texas and Notre Dame, plus others like California - we don't need one in our own sphere that is arguably as attractive a job as Georgetown's.

MSG would be a great venue to say goodbye in and then sail off into the sunset after your big victory.

Yeah I beg texas sticks with its interim guy who is doing well and ND just takes Mccasland or another up and comer to not start a multi conference mess of coaching changes

Anderson will be gone if they don't make the tournament, too much disappointment so far in his tenure...

Mike Anderson's record in his 4th season at St. John's: 63-48 overall (56.8%), 26-41 in the Big East (38.8%) www.sports-reference.com/cbb/coaches/mike-anderson-1.htmlPatrick Ewing's record in his 6th season at Georgetown: 74-99 overall (42.8%), 27-73 in the Big East (27.0%) www.sports-reference.com/cbb/coaches/patrick-ewing-1.htmlHow is Anderson going to "be gone" due to "too much disappointment", but Patrick Ewing is still at Georgetown?

How is Anderson going to "be gone" due to "too much disappointment", but Patrick Ewing is still at Georgetown? St. John's cares a lot more about basketball success and financial prudence and didn't waste a gigantic amount of money on an extension to their alumni Head Coach, even when he asked for one.

I think it’s pretty much a lock that Ewing will finish out the season, and that he won’t be back next season. There’s really no argument to be made that he should still be the coach, and all agree that he was kept on for a season too long.
Assuming most agree that this is all but an inevitability, I really wish the profoundly negative posters on this board could take a break until the end of the season. There are still a few among us who would like to try and find and enjoy a few bright spots in the games that are left.

Other universities (including Georgetown in 2017) have/had different standards than Georgetown had in 2021-2022. It's pretty simple. Anderson has performed far better than Ewing, and is coaching for his job this season. Lavall Jordan's 5 years at Butler were better than Ewing's and warranted firing anyway. Steele's years at Xavier were even better than Jordan's at Butler, and yet Jordan got fired anyway. St. John's made a tournament with Mullin as an at large, and his last three years were better than all but one season Ewing has had, and yet, not enough to keep him around (while some say he stepped away voluntarily, the fact is that he was in trouble, and likely would not have lasted much longer). Big East schools generally have fairly high coaching standards. Mediocre coaches like Steele simply do not survive unless they are at Georgetown or DePaul (and even DePaul moved on from both Purnell after 5 years and Leitao after 6). If Ewing had Steele's performance levels, I am confident he'd be coach for life. But, Georgetown has different standards, in significant part because our coach is Georgetown's favorite son/most accomplished and famous player ever. At some point, though, that's not enough.

Knowing what you do about DeGioia’s GU, why would you think that it’s a lock? Because from the reports we were given, the decision is out of his hands. We have multiple threads devoted to this topic. Can we have one thread to talk about playing St. John’s?
