I haven't watched St. John's yet. Soriano vs. Wahab is definitely a St. John's W. If Murray is good Murray and we can get continued D out of Riley & Bristol, I really can't see why we can't win this one.

The Johnnies have some talent, but they are very poorly coached, don't play cohesively/don't seem to run anything on offense, and play absolutely no defense whatsoever. This should be a win for us, seemed last night like Mike Anderson is fully checked out.

Some notes on St. John's:
St. John's is a better team on defense (ranked 56) than offense (91st). St. John's plays VERY fast - 3rd highest tempo in Division 1, and their average possession length on offense is 2nd nationally (14.8 seconds). So they shoot fast.
St. John's does not make threes well, shooting 31.9% (ranked 276). They shoot twos much better at 51.5% (ranked 121). They are not a good free throw shooting team. They do not get blocked very often. Like Georgetown, St. John's does NOT take a lot of threes. They are ranked 349 on 3PA/FGA. In fact, in terms of percentage of point distribution, St. John's is 2nd on two pointers in the country--62.3% of shots come from two.
On defense, St. John's is mediocre defending threes, a little worse defending twos. They get a lot of steals on defense, which is one of our weaknesses on offense. So, a lot of Georgetown turnovers would not surprise me at all.

Let them win so they don’t have a job opening also. Pitino at SJ seems a lot likelier than here.

Yeah I don’t want to ever truly root for losing but us beating St. John’s can be the last nail in anderson’s coffin since that would totally kill any post season hopes. (personally hoping they make the NIT so at worst they sit on the decision to fire him for awhile or keep him for another season)

The only thing real fans are pulling for is whatever will get us a new coach along with Ronny out the door!

Like the Hoyas I don’t think that St. John’s has performed to the level of their talent this year. Actually thought they would be a contender. Unlike the Hoyas I think they have the ability to get on a roll and blow some teams out. Soriano could have a feast on our two posts.

The Johnnies are a helter-skelter team. They are all over the place. Sometimes their defense I believe is their liability if that is such a thing. They don't have an offensive identity. If Bristol and Riley and to some extent Spears are under control and take good shots and limit turnovers this is our game. We should win the rebound war and hopefully keep their guards off the boards.

Not firing a coach you are going to fire at the end of the season creates this dynamic. People doubt your commitment to moving forward, root against the team because they want change more than they want wins.
If Baldwin were coaching the rest of the way, everyone would be rooting for wins.

Agreed, I willnever root for the team to lose. At the end of the season the record for this season will be in the books and for the last 6 seasons as well. Coaching decisions should be made based on those results. I think it is time for a coaching change, but I will never root for the team to lose any games.

Let's be real! St. John's is not a good team but is nowhere near Georgetown's level of incompetence. KenPom 71 vs. KenPom 227 as of this morning. But yeah...they share a lot of the coaching and player issues that Georgetown has....and performance has underperformed talent.
Georgetown's individual players have always had the ability to bring home some wins in the Big East. But I would not look at DePaul as a "turning point" or a "gelling point" for this team. Statistically, a win was way overdue. I think 1 - 2 more wins are due and St. John's is a pretty likely suspect.
Should be a pretty ugly game with a fast pace and lots of turnovers.

I wouldn't spend a lot of time speculating over what SJU will do with Anderson -- it's kind of a wild card, since their top-down management of their program hasn't been that different than GU's and they've had their share of dysfunction since Louie left. For what it's worth, I could see them sticking with Anderson just for familiarity's sake unless the team completely goes in the tank.
