Every day that passes I am becoming more and more convinced that we are seeing the long, slow, painful death of Georgetown hoops as we know it.

I think it’s all preseason to them except for the BET. That’s the only thing that could explain the extension.
That said, other than ‘19, we’ve been awful at MSG too. So yea I have no f**** clue what he even means.

There is a key line in this all that people seem to have glossed over: "..but we put a good deal of support around him." That to me, was the biggest tell in the whole thing. The excuses are nonsense, but that one line made me think he knows this hasn't been acceptable/will make a change. I didn't read it that way, that line was preceded by JD saying that Gtown doesn't have its ducks in a row with the NIL and that PE is being asked to do his job at a place that's "strict about rules".. So in essence he's being hamstrung right now his view Right. No recognition that none of that explains Ewing's complete inability to teach even mildly competent defense, or you know, win a single Big East game last year. It's just excuse after excuse.

It's all about the lack of players

To the actual basketball answer: we’re screwed. Jack would rather the ship sink because he loves the captain who ran us into an iceberg instead of calling for lifeboats. The only thing worse than ignorance is awareness and just making a conscious effort to do nothing. Glad the alum asked the question…Jack should be asked this at every fundraiser along with the follow-up of “what if things continue on their current trajectory and don’t improve?” If you’re gonna be asked to cut what I’m sure isn’t an insignificant sum, I think you’re owed an answer to that. It's even worse than sinking with the guy he loves. The sinking ship will make him feel like he was right and justified in not wanting NIL. It's a double win. he gets to keep his friend and he was right in his mind. We also brought in what was considered the #2 transfer class but I am sure he doesn't realize that. This is corruption at its finest. I understand that some here feel a deep sense of loyalty and pride to the school and you are free to spend your money however you like. I just can't imagine giving anything to the guy that just spewed that BS to protect his corruption.

He can take his beloved Thompson family with him and they can all enjoy retirement together.

But it’s NIL’s fault.

Just when you think that our basketball program can’t get any more depressing, Friday 12/16/2022. Wow.

Can anyone get the students to make noise the way they did with Esh and JTIII?
Seems that’s our only hope…

Seems that’s our only hope… No. My Junior son, a huge sports fan, has only attended one game - the one at McDonough last year. His friends couldn't care less about the team (and who can blame them). Not only is it sad that they are not bonding as a school community over a fun activity, but the broader lesson (Incompetence at Georgetown is Acceptable) is a key lesson being taken away during his time at the school.

The most charitable interpretation is that he knows the program needs a clean slate but it’s not Gtown’s way to publicly unload on.staff and/or players. In which case fans will continue to voice displeasure until the Kabuki Dance plays itself out.
At the other end of the spectrum, he really believes this BS and/or has a secret agenda. In which case fans REALLY need to voice their displeasure until this becomes untenable for all. SSHoya has the right idea about respectfully explaining to CoS Ferrara and anyone who asks for money why you are displeased and can’t contribute. Please note, most emails are from an unmonitored marketing accounts, so responses should also CC the intended targets (e.g. giving@ADVMAIL.Georgetown.edu vs. giving@georgetown.edu).

Just off the top of my head theory: JD allegedly planned to retire soon before covid hit and figured if the Ewing thing went wrong then someone else can take care of it. But jd decided to cling to power through covid to milk the salary (with basically a free pass to do nothing all year) and will now remain for an unknown amount of time since covid dragged on. He is stuck in a tough spot now tho because the program has tanked, he owes Ewing a bunch of money but doesn’t want to publicly admit he made a bad decision about the extension by firing Ewing. So imo unless there are 3 BE wins or fewer (or some crazy mutiny/exodus/student riot happens), JD will let Ewing stay as long as he does so he can shove the problem off onto a new president. If I had to just take a guess when JD might retire (with no inside info), then it would be after the hospital extension is done after next semester cuz that was a major project and who wants preside over the sh*t show that will be housing for the next two years when they stick students in the hotel and city to demolish henle. But who knows. For the long term health of the basketball program it would be for the best that he retires asap

How many Georgetown Presidents does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None.
They sit in the dark next to melted candles bemoaning life’s unfair challenges…

My son is a sophomore. 1 game which I took him to since we had courtside seats. No interest from any in his friend group/social sphere. BB is irrelevant for the current student body. Unlike with JT3’s removal there is no student led grass roots movement for change … no one speaks of BB … they just do not care

While I wasn’t exactly thrilled by the comments, I’ll make two points. First, I’ve never expected Georgetown to make a mid-season change, and this confirms it. I don’t think it precludes a change after the season. At that point, I think they would say (correctly) that Ewing has enjoyed strong support from the administration throughout his tenure. It explains the need for a change at that point and signals to any future coach that the administration will provide support even during losing streaks.
Second, even if that’s DeGioia’s ultimate view and he doesn’t plan to move on at any point, the fact that the comments leaked seems to suggest that at least some of the donors in that room didn’t find his comments acceptable. If the losing streak continues, noise about the program will get louder.

Given the apathy, no amount of message board and Twitter yelling from alumni seemingly have no impact on action under JDG.
