The drop after losing to (before the game) #301/290 American was less than I would have expected. We lost 21 spots on KP and 13 on BT. I guess when you are already terrible, it’s hard to move too much.
For reference, the lowest the Hoyas got last year was BT 213 and and BT 211. They did not get to the current rank until game 15 on Jan 20th (KP) and game 14 on Jan 16 (BT). Should be exciting to see what kind of new futility records Ewing can set in what should be his last year.

At least we're not Louisville?

At least we're not Louisville? I would like Louisville’s former coach (Pitino, though Mack would be an improvement too).

Always a good sign that you are playing top notch competition when your ranking goes down after a win. Hoyas at KenPom 148 after beating UMBC.

After eight games, the lineup is tightening: Spers, Heath, Murray, Akok, Wahab, and Mozone. The rest of the bench combined for two minutes after halftime.
Murray's return limits the already limited time for Riley and Anglin. And we'll never now the details, but Ryan Mutombo is moving further down the bench. If Ryan can't get time against UMBC, a team with no player taller than 6-7, when?

South Carolina has now jumped us in KenPom (currently #139). Only Power 6 conference teams we're ahead of: Minnesota (152), Louisville (166), California (212), and Oregon State (221). For those keeping track at home, that means we're #72 out of 76 high major basketball teams. Year 6 of the Patrick Ewing era, ladies and gentlemen!

After last night, Minnesota jumped us in KenPom. We are currently standing at #150. Timothy Ighoefe's Cal Baptist squad has moved several spots above us and is now at #146. Our next opponent, South Carolina, is one of the few Power 6 conference teams behind us in the rankings - now sitting at #167. Others include Florida State (1-8 record, KenPom #162), Louisville (0-7, #187), California (0-8, #224) and Oregon State (3-4, #242). We are ranked 71st out of 76 Power Six conference teams in KenPom. Year 6 of the Patrick Ewing era, ladies and gentlemen! kenpom.com

For reference, the lowest mark under Esh was 124 and under JTIII was 74. Ewing’s average rank is 96. Before he showed up, the Hoyas had only been that low for a handful of games in 2004 and never even close under JTIII and now it’s the norm (and getting worse).

So I would argue that we are worse than Oregon St., no matter what the rankings.

So we are now KenPom 154, just behind someone named Tarletan State but still ahead of South Carolina at 158. Sienna languishing at 203, so surely….Nah….

Can’t we just skip the middle and land at 300 already.
