I'm starting to think that LeBron, Steph, Giannis, Booker and Embiid could all show up to play for Ewing and we would still stink. It would still be the players’ fault. 😉 He'd complain that the salary cap prevents him from moving certain of them. After all, it's not like college where you can just go to the portal.

Should retitle this thread. As of a little past midnight after the DePaul loss and Butler stomped at home by Providence, Hoyas 170 on KenPom, DePaul 126 and Sunday’s opponent Butler 91. And the other conference winless team (but only for this season anyway) Seton Hall sniffing the relatively rarified air of 68. The Marquette website Paint Touches may have to expand its Y access for us — again…

Update: as of 9am EST Dec 30, we vault to 169 (just behind Air Force and Wofford, but ahead of Mercer!). Seton Hall up to 67, and Butler & DePaul steady as they go at 91 and 126, respectively.

On the same day he lost a close one to Villanova, Pat Ewing set two Georgetown records. Of course, the losing streak but the team has now touched the lowest KenPom ranking in the history of the rankings. The rankings only go back to 2002 but let’s be honest, this is the worst Georgetown basketball has been in the modern era (since JT was hired).
Can’t wait to see what new records Coach Ewing can set.

I don't think we have to wait too long. I can see Marquette laying an epic beatdown on us.

Just put as out of our misery when a "close one" is a 16-point loss. Ugh.

I don't think we have to wait too long. I can see Marquette laying an epic beatdown on us. It’s going to be hard to fall too much more in KenPom. We are playing mostly good teams from here on out and, unless we really underperform expectations, we’ll either stay around this level or rise up. Last year, we got as low as 213 and, without winning a game and only losing by a relatively small amount, we clawed back to as high as 177. This season feels different and a serious blowout is possible in any game so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

If we leave Marquette's shooter open in their court like tonight vs. Villanova, then it will not be pretty. Add to that Shaka's press and, well, it'll be over.

Two more records await Saturday: a new all time low in KenPom and losing 26 in a row in conference to break the tie with DePaul for most consecutive overall, including Big East Tournament games (not just “regular season.”). We also are a good bet to increase our average margin of loss in conference on the year: Last year for the year it was about 11 1/2 a game and this year it a tick above 14 so far. The record as near as I can tell is Miami’s about 18/game in its winless ‘93-‘94 season.

Who here remembers when people went nuts in 2015 when we lost to Radford in overtime to open the season? That Radford team was ranked 222 and we are now 217. Wow have the mighty fallen.
I would also add that Radford’s 2022-2023 team is ranked higher than us.
It’s good perspective to show how far we have fallen.

No, the Miami team of 93-94 would still stand alone as the most inept in conference of all time at winless with average loss of 18 points..Constantin Popa anyone?

Heck, I was there and had invited a Radford grad pal — who declined on the grounds that his little Highlanders team had no hope. Methinks he doesn’t make the same decision today…

At KenPom #217, we're getting close to being the worst high major program in the country. Only others below us are: 219 Oregon State 231 California 268 Louisville kenpom.comWith Oregon State and California playing each other twice still on the schedule, it's possible at least one of those two will jump us.

And a NEW "new record" in KenPom: down to 220 after Thursday night's games, just ahead of "all hat, but also undefeated 3-0/tied for first in its conference" Stetson. Saturday's foe, Marquette, is #17.
