As Macro pointed out this is Don Carey's former team.

Has anyone requested the tickets for Healthcare workers for this game and heard anything back yet?

Siena looks awful on paper. They were missing 4 of their scholarship players 2 games ago. I think some of them played in their last loss *one additional player is waiting to try to get an NCAA waiver to play.

Just lost 82-54 to Yale "Siena fell to 0-3 with its third straight loss by at least 20 points, and you have to go back to the 2012-13 season to find a three-game stretch in which the Saints lost by double digits in each. Then it’s back to 1994-95 for the last three-game losing streak by 20 points in each." dailygazette.com/2021/11/16/yale-takes-it-turn-clobbering-siena-mens-basketball-82-54/Craziest stat from that article might be the attendance...more people showed up to watch Yale at Siena in Albany, NY than showed up to watch American at Georgetown in Washington, DC.

Hope that our team doesn’t come out overconfident - we SHOULD win this but I still want to see very focused, determined, and smart basketball with good ball movement rather than any hero ball just because our guys likely could break down Siena in 1v1s. I want smart basketball, not single player highlights. Now, if good basketball leads to highlights, that’s another story…

They love that team up in Albany. Always have been well supported.

Siena had even more roster turnover than we did, and lost most of its scoring. A true rebuilding year. They also draw great up here as the biggest game in town. When they are good they regularly draw 8,000 to 10,000, more for the huge games.

This will likely be the worst team we play all year considering as others have mentioned that have 9 new players and we get them pretty early. They did get 2 freshman back for the last game but they didn't really make an impact. They try to shoot the 3 a little more than American but not enough to hurt us. They have even less size than American. They don't have a dynamic PG that can get us off balance and help them get easy looks. We should be 20+ point favorites and should be able to dispatch them pretty easily.

This game offers another opportunity to improve on the last game. Just looking over the box scores, it appears that Siena really has struggled so far. I hope our freshmen continue to develop more confidence and chemistry. Hopefully we can put this one away early.

Not related but Maryland losing to George Mason is warming my heart George Mason finished them off! The Big Ten has had a rough week all around. Wahab had 8 points and 5 boards I think for Maryland tonight. Can’t say I am sad to see Maryland lose, but I just hope we don’t lose our focus against any other mid-majors this year.

As this 1st week as shown with the extra year granted, you can't look at mid-majors like you normally do. Some of these teams are filled with 5th year players who have played together for 5 years.

Very tru but that should make some great upsets come tournament time

I really hate to go off topic ... so I will write something about Sienna ... but Kim English just overtook Kevin Broadus as my favorite "next" coach in the DMV! It will be interesting to see if Rice stays in the starting line up. Billingsley is playing with Timmy and the other centers ... while he has had some freshmen moments, he looks like a guy who can do a little bit of everything well - including rebounding. I'm liking a Harris-Aminu-Carey-Billingsley, Tim O. starting five ... ultimately, I think Beard is going to challenge Harris for the starting position ... and I think Mutumbo's minutes will steadily increase -- he's going to get pushed around in the BE, but he has an offensive game. Hopefully, the Hoyas can establish an early lead and Ewing can tinker around with different groups on the floor. American turned out fine, but the game was not in hand until about 10 minutes into the second half.

I would really like to use this game to see some more offense from the posts, particularly further away from the basket. If Tim is just this year's version of last year's use of Wahab, we are not going to get much. Unlike last year the perimeter threats are not there yet and defenses will not necessarily have to extend to guard our shooters, thereby opening up the lane for entry passes. Let's see if Tim, Wilson and Ryan can make those 5-8 foot shots. Interestingly during the Maryland game the announcers mentioned learning to post up and play offense away from the basket as one of the benefits Wahab mentioned in working with Assistant Coach Danny Manning.

Sounds like that's working out for Ka-Deuce. Wait, I thought Wahab said that was already part of his game but Ewing wouldn't let him use it.
