Another example of the Skip Bayless ploy of setting high expectations so he can rip Ewing apart when they aren’t met Or it’s just sarcasm lol Well, if the 4,154 attendance at the Howard game is believable, why not believe "10,000+" attendance against TCU? 😁 13,600 last Saturday against Syracuse. With our recent improvement and playing against a TCU team rated higher than Syracuse, no reason we can’t get 10K+ there today. Might be 12K+.

I guess I forgot to factor in the huge TCU Alumni in the DMV! All 800 of 'em. The Washington D.C. Chapter hosts over 800 alumni, parents and friends while supporting a variety of social, cultural and athletic events.

Until the last 20 years, the entire base of TCU was a two hour radius of Ft. Worth. It was a place to go for kids who wanted a private school education closer to home that wasn't Methodist (SMU) or Baptist (Baylor). Football really changed that. Tons of money (including a sharp increase in alumni donations) flooded the campus and half the campus has been built in the last 20 years alone. Before, the rich families sent their kids to SMU. Now, a lot of them send them to TCU. A topic for another thread, perhaps: how much does success in basketball drive Georgetown fundraising? Short answer--a lot less than you think.

Relative to Syracuse, 800 is miniscule but not bad for TCU. There are nearly 15,000 people in the DC metro area who got their start at Syracuse University. Armed with their degrees and shaped by their experiences on and off the Syracuse campus, our alums are making a difference, finding success, and supporting Syracuse University in DC and beyond. Agree with your alumni donation point. I think folks on this board (who are the true fanatics) tend to overinflate the importance of Hoya basketball to Georgetown's identity, especially if you think Jack D is going to make the success of the program a first or top priority.

Anyone that wants to bet we finish in front of DePaul and Creighton let me know. I’m sure there is someone trustworthy on here we can use to hold the money. Give me a bet we finish in front of two out those three and I'll take it. Who wants to be the bag holder on this?

Why anyone would take joy in betting on their favorite team to be bad is beyond me There are two types of people in the world. Those that bet for entertainment and those that bet for profit. I get little joy in the Hoyas being bad. That's why I call for change when things aren't joyous.

I would like for GU basketball to have success to then see about fundraising. It’s been so long, but it’s been great for Villanova.

9-11, with some Magic, Health, and Development: maybe 11-9.

I was thinking we played 5 games against teams from high major conferences which is the closest proxy for BE play. I do think the majority of the BE teams (maybe Butler and DePaul aside) are better than these teams, but that’s subjective:
A10 - St Joes (L) ACC - Cuse (W) Big 12 - TCU (L) MWC - SDSU (L) SEC - South Carolina (L)
So we went 1-4 (.200) against that competition. I do think we are playing better in now than November, but we’ve also lost key players since then too. Hopefully we get better as the year goes on, but I just can’t see the optimism others on here have that 10-10 is possible for this team. We haven’t had 10 wins ever under Ewing, and that’s been with more talented teams and a weaker conference.
Guess we’ll see and that’s why they play the games…

I predict 7-13 in BE. There’s nobody we can’t beat, but also no one we can’t lose to. Can we perform at a high level consistently and play solid defense? I haven’t seen any evidence we can do that other than maybe one out of three games when Rice/Carey get really hot from three.

Did anyone say 0-20 or 1-19. Pathetic.

This aged well. Some real blue and gray colored glasses here. Go back and read through the predictions if you want some entertainment.

What's amazing to me is some of us (myself included) still had optimism in December. After a full month of watching our hot garbage. lol

Crazy some thought 10 was a possibility even in December.

I get little joy in the Hoyas being bad. That's why I call for change when things aren't joyous. “There are four kinds of businesses: Tourism, Food Service, Railroads and Sales. And hospitals slash manufacturing and air travel.”
