Yeah this will be a great start to the '22 class. Hopefully Watson follows suit and pops soon also. Then the staff can focus on going after the big fish to finish the class...

However it turns out and I hope he chooses us, it's good to see optimism on this board at this time of the year.

Zeke, that's exactly the strategy I said that Pat and the staff should take and that is... 1) do not spend too much time on the high school recruiting trail, recruit maybe 10 to 20 kids a year spread over a few classes. 2) don't waste time with a bunch of three and two star guys unless they are rising players (Maybe one special guy a year). 2) Go hard after high 4 star and 5 star players hoping to land one or two a year depending upon scholarship availability and need. 5) pick up most of your talent in the transfer market (so if you need four players on your team, look to land two or three in the transfer market. This last one I am just now adding in light of the Ward and Rice debacle and that one is 6) Go hard for one top local and one second tier top local player a year if available. Don't want to waste too much time chasing after local divas. If they don't commit after your overtures after a certain period of time, move on.

I feel like I have seen a similar comment to Zeke's around the 2022 class... My understanding is as of right now we will have have 2 scholarships for 2022 (Rice and Carey). Am I totally missing the boat w/that? Beyond a transfer and I totally realize w/the state of college hoops not having any transfers is now a rarity versus the norm, presently we only have 2 scholarship openings correct?

Tre King is a senior (although he could still choose to come back for his extra year). That's the most likely third opening without taking into account transfers, entering draft, etc.

Tre King is a senior (although he could still choose to come back for his extra year). That's the most likely third opening without taking into account transfers, entering draft, etc. That's correct. I'd say it's as likely that we end up with 5 newcomers next season as 2. I'd say the over/under is 3.5...and I'm taking the over. Just consider newcomers the last 5 seasons (avg. 6.4): '17/'18 - 6 '18/'19 - 5 '19/'20 - 6 '20/'21 - 8 '21/'22 - 7 Unfortunately, the days of continuity from one year to the next are gone...even for the blue bloods. And until Patrick produces a couple of classes with minimal attrition, we should consider 5/6 newcomers per year his SOP. Good news is that a good staff can turn around a bad program quicker than ever; bad news is attracting a steady stream of very solid players is more important than ever. To piggyback on the sentiments many have voiced both recently and for years, Pat desperately needs to hire a killer beltway recruiter. We need to be signing two 4/5* kids from corridor every cycle. In theory, we have very little local comp for an incredible hotbed of talent. I don't buy the "it's not cool to go to GU for local kids" narrative. That's ludicrous. Fix it. And I get that Pat doesn't love groveling - neither did the Thompsons. Fine, then hire a closer. It would be one thing if we had tried 8 guys in 10 years at that slot, but it's been the same dude for a decade...and he isn't the answer. Back to Anglin Watch. Nice piece to start.

So balanced when he goes up for his shot, perfect form and super quick release.

From the UConn board: “he'll likely transfer out of there next year anyway like everyone else they seem to bring in, and we can get him then”. You know your program is in the tubes when Connecticut is more stable and has less turnover lol

Hoping we land him and what I like is that most places and people say he is a 2 or combo so Rowan shouldn’t be out of the picture if he wanted to come or if no more guards are desired by the staff then I feel like playing two combos at once (sophomore Beard and Denver) could be a solid duo to give Dante relief and not drop off play at all

Assuming Dante plays the bulk of those PG minutes and Beard and Anglin play some point and Riley plays most SG maybe SF in small lineups and that is not even taking into account if Aminu is still here and play some 2 guard.... I like Rowan a lot but I think that is going to be a log Jam possibly in that backcourt

You'll get some answers this season: 1)Will Dante take the So leap and be BET Dante consistently? 2)Is Beard a combo or point? Can he shoot well enough to give you off-ball points? 3)Does Riley's slash game translate to college level? 4)Can he and Aminu coexist as slashers a la Johnnies' recent looks? 5)How good is Aminu - 1-and-done good? All-Frosh Good? 6)Does Aminu need the ball in his hands or can he be equally effective off the ball? Until you know these answers, you have to go full steam ahead with best recruits available. And even then...?

You’re both def right that a lot is dependent on the many answers we hope to get this season on and off the court, hopefully the staff has some answers already from practice and such

Riley & Aminu can play 2/3 and if we run uptempo I would expect fewer minutes per player but a more hectic pace. Get me these two kids, brumbaugh and Whitmore and that's a wrap.
