We’ve seem to have invested a lot cycles into Jahn. Staff seems really interested. Hopefully he commits.

Top 50 combo guard Jahnathan Lamothe no longer plans on cutting his list in the near future and will wait out before narrowing down his options. So far Lamothe has taken visits to Ohio State, LSU, Georgetown, Maryland, Pitt, Marquette and is receiving new interest from NC State, Michigan, and UConn he tells 247Sports. “I'll probably wait to narrow my list because more schools come into the picture," he said. "I'm going to wait for the season to go along and for teams to see me more and for the teams that didn't see me in the summer to see me now.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Jahnathan-Lamothe-Maryland-LSU-Ohio-State-247Sports-178288271/

Unfortunately, in my estimation, when statements like this come out, it appears we are wasting our time! If the prospect has not been convinced and sold on Georgetown by now and wants to keep window-shopping, move on. My thoughts don't count but we've got plenty of wings and 6-4+ personnel. Go spend time on what we don't have, power forwards, mobile big men who can shoot 3s, get their own shots, play defense, and grab rebounds, like the guy we lost!!
I just saw the Baltimore guy we lost to LSU last night, Murray, so what! We spent too much time on him. We got Aminu and I'm so happy!! We need players, like him, with his attitude and his level of skills, and there are some out there. Search the world over....colleges all over America are doing that!
My two cents!!

A Hoya fan responded to a tweet about this article & said "maybe those are the only schools the reporter asked about"... to which Lamothe himself responded & agreed. No need to toss him in the Rejection pile just yet.

A lot can change in the programs recruiting a kid so it makes sense for top kids to take their time. A coach can leave, a player(s) can transfer in or out, and kids can go pro. Lamothe hopefully is waiting to see what shakes out with our roster as he should with any of the schools recruiting him. The shake up at MD may help some in that if he wants to stay local, we are a really good fit and I can't see him going to a program in limbo like UMD-college park

If a kid takes the time to imply that he's still interested in your school, does it matter that he's enjoying the rest of his recruiting process? He's all of one month into his junior season. It's not like he's stringing anybody along. Seems he's always wanted to narrow it down or decide before the end of this school year -- so be it. Maybe if he had us in a final 3, then backed out of that -- or pulled a Landers Nolley -- you might have some questions. But what kind of logic is "if he's not willing to commit right now since mighty Georgetown has offered... he's not a fit... let's pass"?

No offense, but I think this is the wrong mindset. Yes, the more programs he looks at, we're objectively less likely to get him. You never know whether if he goes and looks at that 11th program, that it won't be more appealing to him and we are out. But when you have 11 teams willing to look at him...it means you're going after a quality recruit. I'm sure we could go sign up a bunch of 2 or 3 stars that would accept the chance to go to Georgetown without hesitation. Show me a recruit with only two or three teams pursuing him, then you're more likely to get him, but what you get in the exchange is less. I have no issue with a teenager taking his time to figure out a decision of what to do with his life. I'd be more concerned if he didn't, or didn't have the option. Also my two cents!!!

When was the last time we got a commitment from someone in December of their junior year?
Way too early to bail, especially if the interest is still mutual. More importantly, let's get the on-the-court stuff right so this becomes an attractive destination for a rising senior this spring/summer.

I agree that he is still pretty young at this point in his junior year of high school. I can't blame a young kid for wanting to see what his options are before he makes a commitment. If he was in the middle of his senior year and still postponing and waiting for the "better offer" from a blue blood then maybe you just move on, but they have spent a lot of time and effort pursuing this player and he does seem interested from the things he has said. He looks like a really good player and is local, so I think you keep working hard for him until it becomes obvious he is not interested.

I think Lamothe has gotten some Duke interest recently. He’d be crazy not to wait this recruitment out if that’s the case. Not much our staff can do about that.

SW, who said anything about 2 or 3 star recruits, not me! We historically spend a lot of time on some recruits, that are highly regarded only to have them go to the bluebloods. I would like players that really want to be at Georgetown and want to help Georgetown regain stature. We need great players and I don't care how many stars they have. Patrick and crew are good evaluators of players but we have clearly missed out on bigs or something happens that takes them out of the picture. King was the type of player we are missing now. He would have compensated for gaps that we have now, and that is taking nothing away from our current roster who are working hard and developing. Yes, Kids have a right to evaluate and negotiate their options! I wish I were hearing more about our development with the Jackson kid or Gardner from SC.

Imo it’s too early to take any of these kids comments too seriously. That goes for Jahn or Gardner. These kids are still evaluating and learning about the programs that are recruiting them while also figuring out what they want out of their college experience. More schools are going to jump in, some are going to fall off. How they feel about a particular program might not be the same 9 months from now when most of these kids are ready to make a decision. It is what it is.

Very true but he would have to improve a ton to end up there and *play imo. He’s very good but not sure he’s at the level of recruits they’ve been landing at his position on average.

And while I am sure he has gotten some interest from Duke, along with a lot of other big schools, I have to believe that Duke would be looking at him as a fall back position at this point, in case they miss out on another recruit they are pursuing. For Georgetown to get these high level recruits at this point, they need to convince them recruit that they are the #1 recruit they are going after at their position and they are a priority for the Hoyas. The hope is the recruit puts some credence into the fact that they are the priority for one school and just a fall back position at some other school, and they want to go to the school who has prioritized them from the beginning. This is the message that most schools have to deliver to these young men when they are competing for recruits against the blue block programs.
