“I have offers from VCU, Seton Hall, Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech, DePaul, Georgetown and a few more. I would say my coaches are probably hearing from Georgetown, VCU and Virginia Tech the most right now.” Lamothe said, “I am looking for a coach who is going to push me every single day. Right now my high school coach and my AAU coaches push me, even when I am playing well they still know I need to keep getting better. When I get to the next level, I want to get to the NBA, so I want to go to a school who will put me in that position to get there.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/jahnathan-lamothe-looking-for-an-undefeated-summer

Lamothe is a human swiss-army-knife on the floor. Blessed with a sturdy 6-foot-4 frame, he showcased different aspects of this game each time he stepped on the floor. In one game Lamothe acted as the primary initiator, passing the ball and setting up his teammates. The next game, he had the mismatch and his team needed him to score the ball. Not currently ranked in the 2023 Rivals150, look for Lamothe to enter the rankings once the list is updated. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/shaw-s-takeaways-hoop-group-southern-jam-fest

Playing with Team Durant (D.C.) EYBL 16u, Jahnthan Lamothe helped lead his team to the Peach Jam Sweet 16 while averaging 13 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals per game. The 2023 Rivals150 No. 38 prospect has already started to become a priority recruit. “The offers I picked up since the live period started were Maryland, DePaul, Illinois, LSU, and most recently Marquette and North Carolina A&T,” Lamothe said. “I’ve gone on visits to Pitt, Georgetown, Maryland and Rutgers.” Georgetown: “They are close to home. The coaching staff always tells me how they really like the way I play and how perfectly I would fit into their offense, at the point or the two spot. When I visited, I got to see their practice and then sat down with coach Patrick Ewing and went over some film with him.” "I don’t have any upcoming visits set yet, but I know I will take some,” Lamothe said. “What I want in a program is a winning culture. I want a coach who is going to push me every single day. I’d like a great environment for me to succeed in and a place where I can get to the pro level.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/2023-guard-jahnathan-lamothe-becoming-a-priority-recruit

Lamothe is the recruit that I want most in this class that are realistic. I believe he will be a needed replacement for Aminu and Jordan. I also think he pairs perfectly with Denver. Gardner is next on my list for the '23 class.

This weekend, though, a trio of out-of-state prospects in the 2023 class will be at Ohio State on official visits. They will get to take in practices, see the campus and attend Saturday night’s football game against Penn State at Ohio Stadium. Jahnathan Lamothe Listed at 6-4, 180 pounds, Lamothe is a four-star shooting guard from Baltimore St. Francis Academy. The 247Sports.com composite database, which takes recruiting rankings from across the internet, lists him as the No. 90 national prospect, the No. 21 shooting guard and the No. 2 player from his state. In its own rankings, though, 247Sports lists him as the No. 46 prospect, the No. 11 shooting guard and top player from Maryland. Last weekend, Lamothe took an unofficial visit to Maryland, which has offered. He’s also taken an official visit to LSU, and he’s planning to announce a top 10 in mid-December. Illinois, Rutgers, Penn State, Marquette, Virginia Tech and others have offered. Lamothe hails from a region where newly hired assistant coach Tony Skinn grew up and has spent much of his career recruiting. www.dispatch.com/story/sports/2021/10/28/jahnathan-lamothe-sean-stewart-george-washington-official-visits-ohio-state/8582722002/

Six months ago, Ohio State was not on Jahnathan Lamothe’s radar. A four-star guard prospect from Baltimore St. Francis Academy, the 6-4, 180-pound Lamothe already held offers from Georgetown, Rutgers, Seton Hall and a host of others when the Buckeyes hired a new assistant coach. The coach was Tony Skinn, formerly of Seton Hall and a native of the Washington D.C. area. In late May, though, Skinn was named to Chris Holtmann’s coaching staff at Ohio State, ending his three-year tenure with the Pirates. A scholarship offer from the Buckeyes soon followed, and last weekend Lamothe took an official visit to check out the program. The trip was Lamothe’s second of three planned official visits so far. After visiting LSU during the first weekend of October, he is set to visit Marquette this weekend. In the meantime, Lamothe said he’s constantly having coaches visit for his practices. Tuesday night, West Virginia is scheduled to be at his school. The plan is to try and pick a school before his spring AAU season begins. While on visits, Lamothe said he's looking for "Definitely the family base. I want to see how much the coaches like the players and the players like the coaches and just the overall environment. The playing style and my relationship with the coaches and players." www.dispatch.com/story/sports/2021/11/02/jahnathan-lamothe-enjoys-first-ever-ohio-state-trip/6239024001/

This should be more the rule than the exception whenever possible. Team building starts well before a recruit shows up on campus. It's part of why I love what Dante is doing and Ryan has been trying to do with recruits (committed or not).

He's an interesting prospect. He is definitely a power guard with his build but his jumper is a quick release and very wet.

I haven't seen Lamothe yet I thought his school team was coming to the DMV for holiday tournaments, but not the case.

Denver doesn't have any point guard skills, he is pure off ball shooter. Dante and Beard both can shoot, but they can run the offense and create well for others, read the floor and create space for assist or hockey assist wide open shots. Both of them are really nice to watch with their PG skills and IQ.

Man, I have seen Lamothe, I was going off Verbal Commits listing him as St. Francis in Queens, not Baltimore. I could a couple snippets of Lamothe's games this summer. He is sort of a Reilly-like player with approach, but better shooter. I didn't know his name watching St. Francis. I did catch Isiah Coleman playing this summer a few times, who the Hoyas have offered and they have been to quite a few of his games. Coleman is taller and more bouncy, but can just take over games. Coleman had 32 against Dematha this summer and they really could not defend him well.

Lamothe seems to play with that Bmore toughness that I have craved since Brilly graduated. He's also skilled but when it comes to recruiting priorities I lean on those in the know.
