Don't know why California did not play a zone against Duke to force them to make jump shots Instead of allowing Carey Jr. to go off for 31 pts and 11/18 FG's

I do expect Ewing to use a zone to stop Carey Jr. from getting to the rim at will

Anybody who sees a guy in Sec. 108 who looks like George Clooney (only better looking) say hi, and I'll let you buy me a beer.
Time to dominate the Garden. We need to run them into the ground--not sure they can play that kind of game.
Go Hoyas!

Carey was a beast tonight. Duke looks good this year. I think one of the announcers said they looked like an old Coach K team. Have to agree with that.
We’ve beaten Duke as a #1 in MSG before and led to something amazing. Let’s do this!

"Georgetown found its identity in second half during victory against Texas."
Let's hope that is true! The article below that headline said "Duke could win its first championship of the season against the Hoyas (us) tonight. LET US TURN THAT AROUND!! The Hoyas can set the Garden on fire tonight BEAT DUKE and put the world of college basketball on notice!! Yurtseven, play better, more like you have played in prior games. Be more intense and mindful! lets go to the "promise land" in 😎 NYC! Bright lights dude!! GO HOYAS!!!!

It starts by matching their intensity.
I think this team can play up to the level of anyone for 40 minutes.

It starts by matching their intensity. I think this team can play up to the level of anyone for 40 minutes. After our intensity last night, I don’t think we want to relax down to Duke’s level - we played with fire last night and can beat anyone if we MAINTAIN and play our own game.

It will be interesting to see how we handle their National Player of the Year candidate center Vernon Carey. He plays about 60% of the minutes. It will be an interesting match-up for both Yurt and Qudus. I wonder if we see some Tim I given that he and his back-up draw 16 fouls a game. I assume Tim over Malcolm just based on body type.
Looks like we could be giving up a bit of height at just about every position.

The only scenario I can’t imagine is our blowing Duke out, but I’d take it.

What are the odds that LeBlanc starts tonight? I wish I had offered pre-season bets that Pickett would take Leblanc’s starting spot. No one would have believe that. Every game I think Josh might start, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Perhaps I have a chip on my shoulder, but I feel that ESPN looks at us like a novelty act. They didn't place our games' highlights directly behind Dukes, but much later in the show. Highlights were very brief. Heck, they talked about Coach's career more than they talked about the team (I know MSG is the Coach's house, but still). A win tonight or even a good showing will put everyone on notice. ESPN has a chance to be the first on board (after Andy Katz that is).
Perhaps my Hoya Paranoya is returning. Anyone have a remedy?

Like it or not, Pat at MSG is always going to be a main storyline. That’s not a bad thing. I thought the ESPN commentators were overall very complimentary last night. Duke’s the number one team in the country, we can’t expect equal billing. But hey, we are playing them today!

Win tonight and everyone notices...
I agree with the thought that this is a beatable Duke team, especially this early in the season. That being said they have 3x the talent of any team we have faced since the Villanova team two years ago.
The goal in NYC was always to beat Texas and play with house money against Duke. Call me a non-believer, but I thought we were in real danger of going 0-2 here; couldn’t be happier to be wrong.
Hopefully the guys play loose but focused (as they looked last night). I think Omer will have to be a much bigger factor tonight and we need Mac to play within himself. I’d settle for a game where at we are within single digits late in the second half. If we can keep it close, perhaps we can steal the game with some lucky bounces down the stretch. Regardless it’s a great experience and opportunity for this team that I hope will pay dividends in February and March.
On the bright side it’s the only the second time we have played two straight days at MSG (BET play-in game aside) since 2013. Good to exercise some bad juju in the building.

Yup, I've got a remedy. It involves another "let's go Hoyas chant" with a few minutes left in the second half and Coach waving his arms excitedly toward the rafters before shaking a disappointed Ks hand.
