Did anyone notice if there were any recruiting targets attending the game? Yeah three guys from Gonzaga/DeMatha were behind the bench. Posted a picture on the 2020 thread.

Nova losing, PC beat SJ... the makings were there for a great day had we just taken care of business. Sigh.

The worst part about attending the game today was having to watch our smug Vice President and his country club friends loudly celebrate the Butler victory in one of the luxury suites. Guess you couldn't resist taking a cheap shot.

It seems like we've said it before..but this loss is a killer. I was having dreams of an NCAA invite, whether foolish or not. Those final couple minutes were just disastrous...turnovers on passes to Leblanc. Jagen throwing it out of bounds...what he is really good at, again...can't remember. ...James just seemingly incapable of making hoops in Big East play the past several games (with occasional exceptions)..Jesse disappearing and Mac can't get a call when driving the lane and getting hammered. Finally...I love Pat..but our clock management in the final 20 plus seconds was abysmal. Oh well..Kaleb and Pickett played great and Mac, for the most part, but less so after the ankle sprain. Maybe the rest of the BE fans feel like we do..so close , yet so far. Dont forget Pickett's post feed to Jesse....those 3 turnovers combined with Baldwin's lucky layup over Jesse sealed our fate. Mac has to make that layup at the end and Jesse can't settle for that jump shot. I wish Ewing would have designed something to get Morko a clean J....I wasn't watching live until the last 8mins but it seems like Morko was shooting well....

Guards other than McClung go 0 for 10. With McClung 7 for 29. Akinjo 1 out of his last 17. Moseley 0 for February,

I don’t know what to say. It’s becoming harder and harder to follow. New around here? Ha, no. I survived the Esherick Years while in school. It is just starting to take it’s toll on me. I was emotionally disconnected but got sucked back in so it is a viscuius cycle.

Poor performance, I think was the sloppiest since we began BE play. Poor performance in a game which was very winnable. Pickett stepped up and nobody else really did. Mac scored well but made a few mistakes, can't say that he was bad. But Akinjo had a poor game, Jessie was sloppy and the bench had good plays and some sloppy plays. Very sloppy and made poor mistakes that this team is better than. Almost need a win Wednesday to keep up pace in conference. We are a better team but played much worse.

They made and defended the 3's. We did not. We need Akinjo to be unleashed to attempt some of those 3's. We cannot have Jesse popping shots from 20-30 feet away from the rim.

Painful on so many levels. No leadership from Jessie again. Akinjo could be hitting the wall. We’ve asked a whole lot from him as a frosh. But he’s got to be better offensively. If you had told me that Mac and Pickett would have played that well, I would have predicted a 20-pt win.
That is at least the second home loss to a team who is considerably inferior. We have no biz losing to Creighton or Butler at home. And Pat has to open up a can on the officials. We play 5-on-8 in every home game.

I hate playing at Prudential Center and don’t have a good feeling going in there. Regardless I will be there and I am sure by tomorrow there will be a part of me convinced we will win.

We get absolutely no benefit of the doubt as a home team.

We need to run the offense thru govan in the half court.push it when we can but in the half court go thru govan and spot up for open threes.the reason we loss today was we couldn’t hit any threes Akinjo struggled to hit anything today.mosley and Blair didn’t help and Malinowski didn’t do nothing.we can’t overcome not hitting open threes.our margin for error is little and we had 2-3 turnovers at the wrong time and missed threes and that is why we loss.that and given them wide open threes.they had at least 4-5 wide open looks.that why they loss.and govan doesn’t play hard enough.he lacks intensity that is why he isn’t on no draft boards.basketball is about passion.you have to go take it.you need fire and passion or you just average. Trawick is a example of grit and fire you need to succeed.govan hasn’t showed me any fire and intensity in 4 years now. I would put him on the bench play mourning until he decides to pick it up about 5 notches. He should be averaging 25 points a game and 15 rebounds.he is that talented but lazy. Go Hoyas.

Very disappointing loss. Back from Irish Channel after swilling Jamesons since 230. Onto SHU.

Didn’t see the first half (not televised in my area), but was able to catch the second half on a stream. My thoughts: —I liked PE’s substitutions. Brought in the veteran bench lineup when the first unit wasn’t getting it done. I know Mac scored some points in the first half but to my eye he was playing too much hero ball in the second half going one on one and jacking up 3’s. —I also liked getting the starters back in for the final 6 or so minutes with a chance to steal the game. That seems like progress/growth to me from PE who often earlier in the year would ride with the “bench” lineup (or a mish-mash lineup) all the way to the last minute. —We has ample opportunities to tie it up in the last three minutes but just didn’t execute. The biggest three missed opportunities to me were: Leblanc getting blocked on the dunk (go up strong with two hands josh and take the foul!!!), Govan missing a short jumper (I’m fine with that shot because he usually makes those) and Mac’s driving layup in the last minute (again I’m fine with the shot as he usually makes those). Three opportunities to tie it that we blew, and in leblancs case it was a Four point swing because he fouled the rebounder right after for FT’s). Frustrating. -So, frustrating game. We need Akinjo to find his 3 point stroke, Govan to stay locked in (and feed him the ball) and Mac to stay aggressive but smart with movIng the ball and passing up long contested shots. -Also I don’t think we should play zone when we have Mac and Akinjo are in. Not enough length and not enough experience/cohesiveness to make it work. -I also think our full court pressure is weak (most of the time leads to layups for the opponent). I much prefer our 3/4 court “soft press” that bleeds 8-10 seconds off the clock (leaving less time that we need to guard in the half court).

Ewing came out of the locker room early before the second half and worked over the officials for a couple of minutes while the team was was warming up. He tried.

They had more “want to” than the Hoyas today and that was evident early. The dedication of game to the recently deceased alumnus of Butler, I am sure helped them with their “want to”. It was a big game for the Hoyas and Butler. Butler more so. Unfortunately the “alpha leaders” on this team are freshmen. Three years from now this team will be able to withstand even a desperate “want to” game by a team like Butler and consolidate its place as one of the leaders in the BE. For now Patrick will just have to endure the inconsistancies of his freshmen “alpha leaders”. It’s been said that at least three of the freshmen committed to Georgetown with the intent of bringing the program back to prominence. With the incoming class and a coupe of solid additions , they will certainly do that. The last group to dedicate themselves to that goal(Green, Hibbert, Bowman, Wall and Cooks) made it to the Final Four, and without some bogus foul calls on Hibbert, would have made it to the final game. We will all miss the offensive prowess of Govan next year. It has been a joy to watch. As good as the offensive game of Yurtseven is reported to be, I doubt he will come close to matching the 40+ percent 3pt shooting nor the deadly jump hooks left or right. He can not be blamed if his “want to” skills are not where you would like it to be. This is his senior season and his first three years were on teams with little chance of making any noise in the league or tournament.

Problem is that Jesse NEEDS to score 20-25 points with double digit rebounds to overcome his defensive deficiencies. I am by no means enough of a hoop expert to know whether Jessie’s D problems are a matter of effort or physical limitations. I love the kid and hope he makes a good living next level, but damn I’d like to see some fire......
