It would be nice if you could forward a ticket on the spot. I had a large group and had 10 tickets on my phone. My wife had a bag that was too big and had to go back to the car and I had to keep a bunch of kids entertained outside the ticket area while we waited. Pretty lame. How do they scan the tickets this year? Is there a single QR code for all the tickets?

Mine is weird. Only have tickets displayed for about half of the games. Did you download all the opt-in games? I didn't have any beyond the Dartmouth ticket because I was downloading as I went. The Big East tix, Syracuse, TCU etc were already there. You have to go to wearegeorgetown.com and access the STH link (season ticket holder opt-in).

When I go to myhoyas account it has a button for "transfer" and "sell" and "view barcode". It also has buttons to link to my Google Pay, and also download to phone. When I hit "view barcode" it says "screenshots won't get you in." I could be wrong but I believe you need the moving blue line or other moving squiggle for the barcode to be valid. I get one or the other whether I access my ticket via myhoyasaccount or Google Pay.

Thanks for verifying, unfortunately I won't be able to get to any games in person this season so I haven't bothered looking into the app. Agreed with ColumbiaHeights that they should allow transferring of single tickets.

Had some confusion here - it looks like for student tickets there is no rotating QR code but maybe for assigned seat entry.

My wife had a bag that was too big. Unfortunately, Capital One Arena revised their bag policy since the last time Georgetown played there. The maximum bag size was reduced to 14"x14"x6" in September 2019, but now that size only applies to "medical or parenting bags" with 5"x7" (no depth allowed apparently) being the new maximum for "normal" bags. That translates to my wife's standard size purse not being allowed, BUT you can pay $10+ to put your bag in a locker on 6th Street. Seems insane that "what do I do with my small purse or laptop bag?" is now something you have to figure out just to go to an evening game after work.

They did have disclosures in advance and I just forgot to mention to my wife but it was a royal pain (luckily we drove as normally we just metro down but were avoiding that with metro's recent wait times). Ease of use is your friend Cap One. Gotta flip this up a bit and I would be interested in the logic behind the change.

I can't believe I've missed this whole discussion, but I have only one thing to say about Capital One Arena: it has got to be the brightest goddamn arena in the history of sports. It feels like you're sitting in a dentist's chair the entire time you're there. It makes it feel like you're supposed to leave because the concert just ended. It in no way helps you focus on the game and really accentuates the lack of atmosphere that both the Hoyas and Wizards suffer from. Reupping this.

It also makes the games look horrible and washed out on TV.

I much prefer when we are away as the game looks so much better and is easier to see.

There is no crevice of that arena that isn't lit up like a goddamn Christmas tree.

I like stories such as the evolution of Grand Canyon University who jumped to D1 in 2013 and made their first appearance in the tourney last year. Yeah they received flak from the NCAA and other schools for being a for profit university (the only one in D1) as if staff and presidents don't make millions, classic double standard and clinging to their monopoly. They did alright in D2 for awhile and now have a 7,000 seat on campus arena that hosts a variety of events like concerts along with athletic teams. It initially broke ground in June 2010 and it was finished a bit more than a mere year later by September 2011 with 5,000 seats. In March 2014 they closed it to expand it to the now 7000 seats for their full transition to D1 and it took them all of 5 MONTHS and they finished 6 weeks ahead of schedule to get it done in time for the student welcome back week in August (Imagine an athletics department and administration that works hard to connect with students and just get stuff done to make life and things better). They are also doing well in other athletics like mens soccer last I checked. Good for them, this would be a dream as a student.

Logging back in for this particular gripe:
People can't bring in a "parcel" larger than 5"x7"? What, they can't just look inside? My large hoodie and jacket don't count? And instead of complimentary lockers, they're $10?
What about purses, family needs, basic work-to-game stuff?
There has to be something we can do about this. I boycotted tonight's game on the spot. And do they not know they're losing more than $10 because I'm not in there buying food and drinks? Absurd.
Also, it can't be a security issue. It's laziness and greed.
I'd be in there tonight cheering my face off for the Hoyas, as I've done for 23 years straight. But instead the arena itself completely turned me off -- and my partner, who's a new Hoya fan.
[On Edit] My younger sister is a soph at Davidson. They have an amazing on-campus arena, and a big homage to their team funded by one notable skinny kid who torched us in 2008. Where are our hoops alumni in this?
