MOD NOTE: That's enough speculation, thank you. I'll note that the initial tweet and the CBS sports bit linked above were written by the same person.

We know he's gone. And Patrick doesn't release guys for no reason. That's all we know.
I don't know what Antwan did but I feel confident that Patrick is making the best decision for his guys both on the floor and off. I don't believe he takes changing the course of a kid's future (for good or bad) lightly. For me, the jury is still out on Patrick as an in-game coach but, as a man and a leader of younger men, I have no concerns whatsoever about his judgment. It's in his DNA and has been on display on a national level for over 30 years. IMO, our Hoyas are in very, very good hands in terms of mentorship.

If that tweet is right about injuring his hand in an altercation, maybe he wasn’t going to play this season anyway?

Nothing was mentioned if it was just bruised or more, just injured. In my admittedly limited experience of "altercations," a hand can get pretty banged up, especially if you actually connect. Just "speculating" that whatever stupidity he was involved in could have impacted his physical ability to take the court. Nobody has enough details at this point, but it is at least possible that, had he not been let go, we could have been looking at "Walker out 8-10 weeks with hand injury" anyway.

I would have to think there was a good chance he was our starting PF to at least begin the season...to lose a starter, granted probably the 5th option if he did start, at this point is a blow to any team... lol, there was very little chance he was going to be a starter.

Well I don't think that is laugh out loud worthy...ha...but I don't think it's that farfetched. I get the impression Patrick much rather play Pickett at the 3 then the 4. Then what's left for competition at the 4? Mourning who hasn't been in a meaningful game in over a year and then 2 Freshman (LeBlanc and Carter) who have never played at this level before. I certainly think there was the chance by default that he starts and saw decent minutes. From his limited action he rebounded well, seemed athletic, with a decent looking shot. Say Walker was still on the team what were you envisioning as the starting 5 to start the year?

I am not saying it’ll happen, but I think many underestimate the chances of Kaleb Johnson starting. He started all of last year and I don’t see why that’s going to change.
I think we are going to see lineups like Akinjo-Mosely-Johnson-Pickett-Govan, in all likelihood. Or you can substitute LeBlanc for either Pickett or Johnson. It’s also easy to turn those into three guard lineups by adding Blair, Malinowski, or McClung, and pushing Johnson, Pickett or LeBlanc to the 4/PF spot.
By necessity (but maybe also by design), I think we are going to be playing with smaller lineups this year.

Loved Antwan's game. Too bad. He was going to have a hard time getting PT though with the longjam at the 3/4.
This gives Trey more minutes at the 4 so I'm okay with it.

He was the best option at 4 but for those rooting for mourning to get more run...it may work out for us.

Say Walker was still on the team what were you envisioning as the starting 5 to start the year? Akinjo, Mac, Pickett, Johnson, Jesse..... If not Johnson, LeBlanc. He's a better player than Walker, has way more of a defensive impact and is a great fit offensively because he can score without having the ball in his hands. I liked Walker, but he wasn't (at least IMO) a starter on this team. Also, I think Josh will be a starter sooner rather than later, whether he starts the season in the lineup or not. He does too many things that are unique to the rest of the team to sit

Man, I'm sorry but I really liked Walker from what I saw last year and Kenner - especially at Kenner. He seemed to be really confident and not afraid to take it to the hoop. No way to know now how much he could have helped us this year but I was really looking forward to him surprising us. But once again, you have a 4 year scholarship to a top university where you can showcase your talent in a great Bball league and you screw it up. Sad.

Agree with the point above, Leblanc should be our guy at the 4.
