Maybe the big man from Princeton would move ahead of Akoy if he came here? I hope your being sarcastic but...... If he's worried about that, than I would suggest he transfer down a level or two. This is big time college athletics. Yeah I had my tongue in cheek. But Akoy's decision seems a little odd, must be reasons which we don't get.

He's graduating, and wants to still play. Can't do both here, can he? Congrats on getting your degree from Georgetown, Akoy.

I think this is a loss. Not going to put any blame on Ewing though - this decision was probably reached a while back.
Akoy had his limits, but he played hard. What more can we ask than that? Best of luck to him.

Holds himself to high standards, has set some lofty goals which I have no doubt he will achieve. He will also "kill you" with his politeness, courtesy and respectfulness. Good evening, Husker, how's the situation with Akoy? Should we expect him to be on GU's roster in October? Too bad! This was in the cards for a while now, but playing time was available here. According to a friend of his at school, Agau thought of himself as a two-&-done future NBAer. It has taken him longer. Strange that he wouldn't want to learn from Ewing and get a graduate degree from GU. Wish him the best. Husker, any insight post-decision?

If Akoy thought of himself as a 2 and done NBA candidate, he should pursue a graduate degree in Astronomy because he lives in an alternate universe.

He played solid in his role.. Good kid, wish him the best! Agree 100 with this! Not a complete surprise. The only disappointment I have is as the season progressed he got healthier and knee got stronger and was starting to show some bounce. Most athletes (except Adrian Peterson) really don't regain their explosiveness until their second season after an ACL injury. I also believe he would be a better fit in a pro style offense like Ewing is planning to play vs. the Princeton offense. He was easily our best interior defender last season and was going to be again next season. Could have seen him developing into a JYD type of player in Ewing's system. I believe he would have had a much better upcoming season. Could tell he really liked Georgetown as he the go to guy for hosting recruits on several occasions. Because he has 2 years remaining and immediately eligible, he should get a lot more interest than some on here seem to think. Wouldn't be surprised one bit if Akoy doesn't join Isaac Copeland back in his home state at Nebraska. Also might give him a chance to play with his younger brother (2018 class) for a year as he is currently being recruited very hard by the Cornhuskers. Congrats to Akoy Agau on completing his degree and good luck to him where ever he ends up except if he's playing against Georgetown.

Not sure if everyone is so glad he is leaving as a defense mechanism..or they really are. Considering the lack of players on the roster, I am having trouble understanding the "fine with me" etc etc attitudes. You could tell he was still not nearly 100 % physically, but I felt he was a skilled big guy who could do a few things. There were some games I wanted him on the court instead of Govan (I said SOME games!) Anyway, obviously wish him well, but I am sorry to see him go. I think he would have played important minutes this year. He's not changing what we do. I love him as a kid and representative for the university. We can certainly use the 10-15 minutes he provides. But if he wants to leave, he certainly isn't the difference between a winning or losing season, or vice versa. He's simply ok.

I really liked his game. Seemed like a great kid and into academics. He really bought into what III was doing and was working really hard when some others (who seem gone) were slacking.
I can see how you would want a new environment after how everything went down with III. He also has two year left and graduates which is amazing and he can go to the right fit now and help immediately.

Well, at least our games will not take so long as when he was playing here.

In any event, hopefully he finds success down the road.

He was home over the weekend to attend my oldest son's wedding. We had a heart felt discussion about this and at that point he wasn't close to a decision and was solely concentrating on graduation. We haven't spoke to Akoy since Sunday morning. I can assume things from our talk(like some of the CLUELESS people giving there 2cents worth on this topic). And for some of the know-it-alls, don't plan on seeing him at Nebraska, even with 2 former college teammates there.

He avg'd 15 mpg last season so we'd have to think that number would jump up this season.. What I didn't realize is that Agua led the team in rebounding(5.3) during the conference season in only 15.2 mpg.. His per 40 number rebounding #(11.9) for the season beat Govan's #(9.5) by more than 2.. For the conference season it was even more stark, 13.9 for Agua to 8.0 for Govan.. I get that next season will be a lost year but Agua would have been one of the teams better players.. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/georgetown/2017.html
