7 assists to 0 TO's for Justin Simon is a good sign for St. John's.. Wow St. John's has 0 depth. They have Owens off the bench and then literally nothing. Kassoum Yakwe has a sore ankle so he didn't play tonight, with him that's a solid 8 man rotation..

Right Now: playing a lot of ball screen and 5 out look. Wonder how that works against a 7'3" rim protector...

Right Now: playing a lot of ball screen and 5 out look. Wonder how that works against a 7'3" rim protector... Sodom is not going to play a ton as a freshman, and the point of playing 5 out is taller guys are pulled away from the paint, and they struggle defensively on the perimeter. Sodom would get eaten alive day one. He's a long term stock. It's going to require patience.

Not disagreeing, but his strongest assets as a (super)big are his quickness and mobility, so my thinking is that he (ultimately, maybe not day one) can stretch and still get back to help with the drives. He is very effective blocking shots from behind, with great patience that starting higher up allows. While many of the smaller/quicker stretch 4s and 5s can hit threes, the question is whether they can hit them over a guy who challenges up to about 11 ft. You can't tell me Pat Ewing can't find a way to make this raw talent and size work for us...

I'm not sure he's ready to play but if he doesn't who is backing up Jessie? Think he's going to have to play more than people realize.

Shouldn't they show a "shooting guard" shooting more than just layups?😉

I certainly don’t have any insight or pretend to know more than the Yaboys, Etomics of the site (thanks for keeping us up with insights on recruits) but watching Pickett and Walker in clips like this, there just seems to be something, well ... there. I’m cynical of most highlight reels with guys having a bunch of dunks or open looks, and always assume it’s against much weaker competition. But watching Pickett throw a pinpoint on the run behind the back, or do the mid range KD step back J, it just seems like he’s got some real innate ability beyond physical tools. And Walker is right handed, yes? Again, reading way too much into it but the dunk on the highlight where he’s coming down on the left with a defender approaching on the right and he shifts the ball mostly to his left in mid air to dunk items avoid the potential for a block ... again, just seems to have something there. Pickett needs to gain weight (although didn’t KD until like his 3rd NBA season and how’d that turn out) and Walker probably needs offensive skill polishing, but I really think the staff has something with them.

I like your optimism but I think any comparison you Kevin Durant is a stretch. But I would be thrilled to be wrong.

The odds of him getting paid to play at U of Texas have passed and being a 30 point scorer in the NBA is a long shot, so I suppose there’s no real comparison. At this point if any of our wings turn out on the level of Gerald Riley or Shernard Long we should be happy.

Walker game has alot of polish already. he has a very nice jumper(picture perfect form wise too)out to 20feet and can play inside. His problem is he can not really off the dribble create his own shot well enough.

Ewing's challenge is going to be figuring out how to mix and match his lineup against particular opponents. Where is the outside shooting coming from? Who can handle the ball against pressure? How to keep Govan and Derrickson on the court and out of foul trouble? Which newcomer can seize the opportunity and establish himself early in the season as a starter? Can Kaleb, Mosley and Mulmore develop into more complete players on both ends of the court? Lots of questions and answers start coming in a little more than a week. Hoping for the best and anxious to put the chaos of the past two years behind us.
