He's an elite defender and was the best defender on Sean Miller's World Championship team in Italy. He was an awesome defender at Georgetown before the Freedom of Movement rules made it impossible to play elite man to man defense without fouling. The NBA and international rule set favor his defensive prowess unlike the watered down College Basketball rules. I have seen quite a bit of elite defense the past week. Somehow others have figured it out within the new rules. Peak has actually been a good defender over the course of his career. Last year his fouls per 40 numbers spiked (5.7 fc/40), but this year (3.4 fc/40) they were almost as low as they were his freshman year (3.2 fc/40). Considering he was more often than not tasked with defending the best opposing player, that is actually fairly impressive. Moreover, according to kenpom, he put up even more impressive numbers against the best teams, what kenpom terms "Tier A" opponents (3.1 fc/40). That is even more impressive when you consider that Peak actually played a higher percentage of minutes against those Tier A opponents (84%) than he did on average over the course of the season (81%).

And the hits just keep on coming. With the composition of the current roster, we would almost surely finish last in the Big East. We had better be trying to add a slew of grad transfers and hitting 2018 hard.
To the tune of Proud Mary: Swirlin', swirlin', swirlin' down the dra-ain.

I like that Georgetown will honor his scholarship another year and a half (normal expected graduation date)

Good article. I am not sure if LJ's game is ready yet to be a first round draft pick or not, but if he thinks it is what is best for his family and his future, then I wish him the best and hope it turns out well. He was an excellent representative of the university and I hope everything turns out well for him.

Not sure why LJ is used as the poster boy for this article--the sentiment of which I happen to agree with. Seems to me that while fans may express the personal opinion that LJ is not ready and would be better served spending another year improving his skill and draft stock, by and large people here are sympathetic to his reasons for moving on and are wishing him well. I wouldn't call that "shaming".

The real question is whether LJ benefits more from playing a year professionally where his only job is his game and helping to support his family in the interim.
Seems to me that if he has discreet deficiencies innhis game from the NBA perspective, he is best served working on them with professional coaches be it I the D league or overseas.

I'm still craving some fried fish but I also meant to mention that I hope that LJ does follow through on his intention to earn his degree. He earned the scholarship and I hope he's able to take full advantage. I'm really hoping he catches on with an NBA team because, while I don't think he's ready just yet, I do think he has plenty more potential and the work ethic to realize it.

LJ got an alternate invite to the NBA combine. Hoping some of those invited back out, so that peak can attend. I think he would seriously wow NBA folks on both ends of the court in the 5-on-5 scrimmages.

Yeah he's got no shot at getting drafted if he's an alternate. It means scouts aren't interested in getting looks at him.

The small list of alternates seems to imply he was very close to getting a full invite to the combine which kinda shows teams were interested in seeing him.. Also seems to me he's gonna get a slot, what's the point of kids like Ball, D. Fox or Malik Monk of Giles or Fultz ect. going to this event?

The combine is just for domestic players, right? There are always a number of foreign players picked (especially in the 2nd round), but I assume they don't fly them in for the combine. I don't think LJ made a bad decision for himself, and maybe the best thing for his life would be to play overseas. But he probably shouldn't get his hopes of being drafted up too high if he's only an alternate on this list.

Most, maybe half of these players who got invited to the combine aren't getting drafted. To not get an original invite is a sign that Peak is not really on the radar to get drafted. I'm pulling for him, and understand why he left. He can be successful even if he doesn't get drafted or make it to the league.

Lydon got an invite and Angel Delgado didn't?
IMO Angel Delgado is a 10-year pro

It seems like a decent amount of players won't be attending this event. Does this mean LJ, as an alternate, is likely to be called up? From what I understand that big man from Valpo and Lonzo Ball both don't plan on attending, so there's two spots right there, and it doesn't seem like the alternates list is crazy long either.
