So boys and girls, what is our biggest lesson from the first week of the NCAA Tournament? That the mighty, vaunted ACC is overrated. OVERRATED. I wish I could type this in a ten times larger font. North Carolina could still win the whole thing, but I would be a lot more surprised if that happens now than I would have been four days ago. And it wasn't just that the teams lost, but in some cases how they lost. Virginia and Florida State were humiliated by teams that had both lost key components and managed to play their way through that.
The Big Ten and SEC were mocked this year, but there they are, both with three teams in the Sweet 16, while the ACC has uno. And to add to it, Cuse lost at home to Ole Miss in the NIT. I have to admit, I'm enjoying this a lot.
Can you all believe that South Carolina hadn't won an NCAA Tournament game in 40 years, and has never appeared in a Sweet 16? That's unfathomable to me, as I remember when they were regularly really good, but that was a long time ago.
Nova reverts back to losing in the second round as a super high seed, but they'll always have 2016. And Wisconsin was ridiculously underseeded. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they win that regional.
UCLA - Kentucky II should be a lot of fun. If Alford bolts for Indiana, I expect UCLA to go after Marshall or Mack.

I am super impressed by South Carolina. I had not watched more than a few minutes of their games this season, and I have always viewed Frank Martin as more "tough guy" schtick than good coach. But they played two outstanding games, on both ends of the court. And PJ Dozier sure would have looked good in a Hoya uniform!

That was pretty neat watching UCLA get going last night. That Ball kid is terrific, and Bryce Alford is a scary chip off the old block. I know many here remember IU's '87 title, Steve Alford was deadly.
Super fun watching Duke lose, all of the Devils seemed to feel they were above officiating, and had tantrums seemingly after every call. Coach K had that, "don't be an ass on the handshake line" look for the last 8 or so minutes of game time, priceless...
