Another mid major, Creighton, in our conference final. Where are we - sitting safely at 5-13.

The Big East is ranked as the third best conference in basketball - well ahead of the "Power" conferences of the PAC 12, SEC, and Big 10. Creighton isn't a mid-major anymore. Sorry to spoil your fun.

Look spin it however you want. There's the power five and then the Big East. The BE has done a great job hanging on to basketball. However, we have been awful and have zero part in that claim. We aren't even Seton Hall good as we are terrible and can lay no claim to any success of this BE. In fact, these schools can look at us and say WTF happened to you?

The Big East has a 28-18 record against the "Power" conferences this year and had a winning record against them last year. It's a very good conference. Georgetown hasn't been holding its end of the bargain though.
If Marquette makes the NCAA tournament this year, that would mean 9 of the 10 schools have received at least one invite over the past 4 years. (DePaul being the sole exception)

Great doubleheader at MSG tonight - used to be us. It's the long haul that matters. As 2003 will tell you we are on the verge of something great but just need to be patient for several more years.

I never said that. Nothing even close. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've said I am not overly optimistic about next season, though I do support keeping the coach. Listen, my position is clear in the JT3 thread and others. You know what my position is, yet you consistently misstate my position or say false things. In the last 24 hours, you've made up three things I supposedly think or have said, that I have never actually thought or stated on HoyaTalk. I am sick of your posts "As 2003 said" or some similar variation. Whenever you say that, you follow it with something I've never said. Since you consistently misstate my opinion, I have to think you are either doing it on purpose to get your kicks, or you simply don't understand what you are reading. Either way, stop doing it. You don't have to turn every thread into pushing your JT3-change agenda or your need to constantly tell the board how awful we are and making up false things about people who disagree with you.

You show me where I said, "we are on the verge of something great but just need to be patient for several more years" and I'll respond. Otherwise, I'm going to ignore you for now because you're just looking for a fight, and I feel bad for everyone else that I am even entertaining this nonsense.

You can't help yourself and that's your identity which is fine but understand that's an unpopular position and won't get a pat on the back anymore as most of the faithful I've seen on this board are long gone from posting. Eagle, why don't you just stop posting the same thing over and over? I have enjoyed this board for years but it is fast losing its appeal since you choose to hijack almost every thread telling us you want a new coach and insulting or misrepresenting any poster who disagrees with any portion of what you say. Juvenile is the best way to describe your presence on the board.

I watched both BE semifinals last night and notwithstanding the Hoyas' absence the place was sold out and both games were compelling, top flight basketball. The conference is second to none in college basketball at this point and will be even better when the Hoyas (and SJU) bounce back.

Anyone else notice how much better the BE tournament teams are playing defense now than they did in the regular season? Wow, Seton Hall locked down the Nova offense and really deserved a win. Jay Wright actually said that after the game. Xavier also made Creighton work very hard for their win. Maybe the tournament brings out the defensive intensity in some teams. Sadly, we never played so well defensively this year and it will be a benchmark for how well we do next year. BTW, they actually played defense WITHOUT FOULING!

Well coached teams get better as the season progresses and the stakes get raised. We seem to crumble.

The Big East final on TV looks like it has a good crowd. Hopefully, it's another sell-out.
