The fact that 7 Big East teams are getting in this year - and we're not one of them - just highlights even more dramatically how far we have fallen.
And consider that one of the other teams not getting in - St. John's - just beat us, and has a great nucleus of young guys coming back plus some solid transfers who have been practicing with them.

Random hypothetical - would it be ever possible for the Big East to get all 10 teams in the tournament? Essentially, if we and St. Johns were good enough for an at large, and Depaul won the Big East tournment. Or would 9 tournament-caliber teams beat each other up too much during the season, so that someone like Xavier losing in the BET would knock them out? If this were to happen, how high could the best team's seed be? You couldn't have a Villanova type dominant team, need to spread those wins around the conference more.

I think this would be virtually impossible unless every team went 9-9 with good OOC success.

They just announced that tonight's semifinals are a sellout. Good atmosphere as well.

I'm actually watching the ACC game tonight against the BE tournament. I tried to watch Nova and Seton Hall but not that interesting. I see the national appeal to this Duke-UNC game and how we don't stack up currently as a conference to compete.
However, if tonight was a loaded Georgetown program with a Nova program coming off a NC that would be must watch for most.
Hoyas need to do their part for the conference. They are failing more than this alumni base but they are failing all these other schools that counted on them.

I can't speak to the Duke-UNC game, but I thought the Villanova-Seton Hall game was pretty entertaining. Of course, Duke and UNC have a much bigger past and rivalry. Still, the fact that the BET is sold out tonight is a big deal.

I'm here at the Garden. Eagle, you chose unwisely. This was one helluva finish.

My team is out so am I. Can't watch these others that we should be in front of still playing. Let's hope our program finds its way and makes this remotely enjoyable for most fans in the near future. For you 2003, I know you delight in this program in its current state so happy days to you and yours. Enjoy the ride.

I mean that's Seton Hall that is way ahead of us as a program. All reminders of where we are currently. Duke-UNC isn't all that interesting but is what it is.

Villanova wins it's 30th game of the year tonight. The Hoyas have won 29 games in the past two years.

For you 2003, I know you delight in this program in its current state so happy days to you and yours. Enjoy the ride. Why do you insist on making stuff up like that? I do not "delight" in the current state of the program. I was at the game at the BET on Wednesday and it pained me to see us lose that way. I'm very frustrated with what's been happening. Your view isn't the only one, which you seem incapable of recognizing. So instead, you make stuff up.

I said above: "I was at the game at the BET on Wednesday and it pained me to see us lose that way." Yes, I was upset about it. I did think the guys fought hard in the second half; obviously it wasn't enough. Foul trouble came back to bite us again. Obviously, it's got to get better.

If this coach doesn't make tournament next year will even you pull plug? Or do we let him finish the $9m experiment (credited to prhoya, sorry sleepy)?

If someone did a survey when the NBE was first announced and asked people to identify the small Catholic school from the northeast that would win the league's first NCAA championship and the following year would go into the tourney as the #1 overall seed, led by two DC players, my guess is that 99% would have said Georgetown. It's just so depressing. I know some people on this board hate Villanova because of 1985, how can you not root for Josh Hart after the plays he made in the last 5 minutes tonight?

Fact is we can't afford to root against them as they are the only one truly making BE relevant on national stage in the ESPN world. We are the punchline for what went wrong when someone takes over the family business and the what ever happened to segment in CBB.

just watching the cut in on the Xavier huddle made me know we aren't coached. No fire or direction in this program.
