I've been saving hotel bonus points to offset costs to go to BET. By time I go, I will have 3-4 free nights. Maybe that's hopeful. But I love BET and so not feeling it this year. Use one night, save the rest for next year! With the way things are going, he may be able to save some of those nights for subsequent years as well.

I totally understand the sentiment - and while it is nothing compared to most prior years, I confess I am still a little excited to get to NY. Beginning with the '88-'89 season, I have been to every Gtown game in the BET for 27 of the last 29 years and the last 22 straight - missing only 1993 and 1994. A good Gtown run makes it one of my favorite weeks of the year. My wife likes to tell the story of the one February (with two kids under the age of 5 at home) when I ended an argument regarding the upcoming schedule announcing that the BET was "non-negotiable." A good run is of course not happening this year, but it is still an opportunity to get together - even if briefly - with old friends over beer in a pretty cool city. A source of never-ending laughs for your friends as well.....

I will be there Wednesday with my whole family to cheer on the Hoyas. Anybody who can't do that has to stop calling themself a fan and just acknowledge that following the team is a way to indulge your petulant inner child in a socially acceptable manner. Scream all you want about what you want and what you think you are entitled to. Nobody cares.
By my count, there are about 250 days to spend blissfully screaming about our superior knowledge, insight and acumen. That is what the off-season is about. You can enjoy that time to the fullest - I won't since I have better things to do than come on here bashing our team or its leadership. Until that time comes, that hard cold period arrives, try your damnedest not to be the turd in the pool.

The worst thing about the Hoyas performance this year is that they have soured me on college bball watching. Usually I'm glued to the tube this time of year trying to scope out how other teams might fare against the Hoyas. But now, watching other, really talented teams just depresses me. Was watching a little of the Purdue-Northwestern game. At the half they put up first half stats. Each team had 4 turnovers. Really? We will put up that many alone in the first 5 minutes. I mean watching these other teams offenses makes you jealous. None of the forced passes to the center, desperate looks for a cutter, guards who can't shoot passing up wide open threes. Depressing. Fixed it for you, Doc.

I guess you think it's amusing to make fun of us. Nice job doing what a Syracuse fan might otherwise do.

Interesting that Marquette is a solid favorite over SHU and PC is a big under-dog against Creighton. I wish he could adjust Creighton for life after Watson, all the early season winning probably throws off the metrics. Marquette ended the season hot, but they did not play great teams, so not totally unexpected. Regardless, the top 6 teams in the BE are very competitive with one another. Should be a good tournament. Wish the Hoyas could have been a part of it.

But it's also kinda sad. Makes me think of Red Sox fans who at an A's game would chant "Yankees Suck!" Hey guys, your team is playing the A's not the Yankees. This comes off as pathetic. Nova putting a Georgetown logo on the back of their shirts screams patheticness. You're national champions for christ sake. Act like it.

This just goes to prove that as bad was the Hoyas been for the past 2 years and in spite of Nova winning the title..Georgetown is still their main rival. They have lived up to their end of the bargain and we need to start living up to ours.

I had plans earlier in the year of heading to NYC tomorrow night, didn't think there was any chance we would be in the play in games. With the Big East and ACC tournaments being there I thought it would be an incredible place for a huge college basketball fan like me to be at. Needless to say that all soured in January and I wont be making the trip.

So we're really going with "Nova is pathetic" right now? We're actually doing that. We are literally unable to fire our coach because of what happened 30 years ago.

Flaming Editeds, yes; pathetic, no. We are pathetic, in the literal sense of that word. My hatred of Nova exists in its own sphere untouched by our performance on the court.

One thing I had forgotten: the ACC is at Barclays this year. I think a good turnout at the tournament is important for all involved because you know the ACC is itching to barge into MSG. As long as we get good attendance like last year, I don't think they'll be able to do that.
