And you really have to wonder what kind of "system" guys like Lubick, Hopkins, Moses, Josh Smith would fit into? One that emphasizes not being able to shoot or score from farther out than 3 feet?

III came to Georgetown with head coaching experience during his time at Princeton.
But recruiting in the Ivy league is different than recruiting at a major college basketball program.
I think his inexperience in building a roster for a major level program has shown over the years.

Jay Wright came from Hofstra, Chris Mack never had a HC job before Xavier, Chris Holtman's other HC was Gardner-Webb.. JT3 has been at Gtown for over a decade, you can't give him a pass due to inexperience..

With all due respect, JT3 has been the HC since 2004. He has has over a decade to adjust from the Ivy League to high level D-1. Again, it is JT3 the GM that has stymied JT3 the coach. He seems to have now tried to adjust to modern D1 hoops, but this took a very long time.
A poster pointed out today that Waters is he first true PG recruit since Markel in 2010. Unreal.

To be fair, it's not like he didn't TRY to recruit more true PG's. He just had no success, whether because of our system/reputation, our staff, etc.

I'm suggesting part of the reason why he has struggled building a roster is because he coached at a place like Princeton. He has no other coaching experience outside of Princeton. It is why it is not shocking he is still struggling now and trying to figure things out now. He may not have the skill-set altogether. Hofstra is different from Princeton. There are no scholarships at Princeton. Recruiting is different. Building a roster is different. Mack was an assistant at Xavier and Wake Forest. He saw and played a part in it first hand on how to build a roster to compete in the highest level.

So let's see who's coaching in Hofstra's conference who can understand how to play in the BE.

I guess what we have to remember is that up until the creation of the new BE three years ago we were very relevant and competitive. And ironically, Nova wasn't. So what happened? I think you can't ignore the fact that our players over this period just haven't been that talented. We, JT3, has done a terrible recruiting job. As many of you have pointed out, we aren't Kentucky or Carolina or Kansas with a bunch of studs sitting on the bench. We just can't afford the misses we've had over the last few years. Sure you can point to coaching issues but face it, since Otto left, LJ is the only legit NBA player to come out of our last 3 recruiting classes. Okay, maybe Jesse will grow into one and maybe White and Copeland will blossom on their new teams. But when I get to my seat tomorrow and see that staring lineup I'll be hoping the same thing I've been hoping before each of our games the last three years. Is this the game where our defense is suffocating? Is this the game where our guards take over the offense and our big men dominate in the paint? Is this the game where someone steps up as the team leader?

Is this the game where someone steps up as the team leader? I'm not even sure LJ is anymore. I think he's more than capable but the problem we are in is if they view him as an NBA talent he'll leave this year. If not, as a senior he'll likely be someone getting tryouts and cut in summer leagues. Just don't see him being able to play his game of driving and sometimes taking over against NBA talent. By far our best player and I love the kid but not sure with his inability to be more dominant for this team on more occasions that he's a sure fire NBA player.

Or maybe Nova just got complacent after they got the big lead against us, and Wright made them pay for it in practice to motivate them😉

Xavier played most of the game without Blueit who injured his ankle very early in the 1st half. Tried a couple of times to re-enter the game and play through it but couldn't. Was finally shut down after the first dead ball in 2nd half (about 18 minute mark). Already without Sumner, Xavier had no chance without Blueit.
