Say what you will but this game in a vacuum was not something the team should hang their heads about. They sucked for a period of the 1st half but responded and got back in it on the road. That shows heart and desire. Glad they didn't quit like many of us (including me) did at halftime.
I know the haters of III on this board get to use this as another data point but I think that is completely unfair. I'm not talking about anything else but this game. There are four days until our next game to keep beating the drum but why do it so quickly right after this game? It just makes all of you seem so agenda driven. Take a moment to analyze the game. For example, why not discuss whether the awful shooting from Nova scorers in the second half was because of them or our defense?
Proud of our guys to keep fighting. They made it an exciting second half and I appreciate that. As long as the team keeps fighting I will keep watching and cheering. We can save the coach talk for the offseason.
Time to get hot and play some nasty three man game between Peak, Pryor and Govan. Go Hoyas! Way to compete tonight.

Bradley had more points and more rebounds than Jessie in fewer minutes. I am not saying that Hayes should get more time than Govan, but be still has a role on this team. That role would be mentor from the bench. Maybe III can add him to the staff next year like his other ex-players. If Bradley is playing better in a particular game he should play. Same for Jessie. This is not professional sports - you don't tell kids who have worked and sweated for 4 (or more) years "you don't matter any more, we don't care about the rest of your final season".

As unhappy as I am with the current state of the program..you are right. The second half was encouraging and there is no reason not to hope for the best over the next few weeks, and scream about the other stuff in the offseason.

Tiresome on this board. They keep fighting and losing and we will be in ninth place out of ten in our conference at the end of the season. Maybe we rise up and make it to eighth. Those that don't see the abuse of this brand and how far we have fallen since forming this conference don't get it. We are sinking fast to irreparable places if we don't correct soon. We are in a conference with some of the bad BE teams from the past and some mid majors and we are 9 out of 10. Let's stop with the we gave good effort and hoping for something else. It's ridiculous.

The same reason Esherick lost Tony Bethel and Drew Hall - at some point, players start thinking of themselves over the team and the coach can't do anything about it.
The parallels to 2003 are all over this team. [/quote]
That is a very interesting comparison between the 2003 disappointment and this year's disappointment. I think I was probably more upset with that 2003 team because that team lost so many close games that year or in OT. Plus, I think Michael Sweetney was a better player than anyone on this team. Not than 13-12 is anywhere near acceptable for this program, but I honestly thought last summer that this year's team was an NIT team at best. So many unknowns from a junior college transfer in Mulmore, to a 5th year transfer from Robert Morris in Pryor, to Agau coming off a major injury, and I was hoping this team would play defense, rebound, value the basketball, etc... which they have shown no interest in doing again this year in most games. That doesn't even take into account Copeland quitting on his teammates.
Back in 2003 Craig somehow got that team to win 4 straight road games to get them to play in the NIT finals (we won at the Dean Smith center beating UNC). This year's team has only won more than 4 games in a row once all year and that was with the assistance of some non conference December cupcakes.

On a different note, Brunson feels what DSR would look like if DSR was a PG instead of a combo.

We are way beyond that as this story is running over multiple seasons and the continued lackadaisical approach of this fanbase is unbelievable. We went through the same debates last year and all these same posters claimed this would be the critical year for III but now are kicking that can further. I'm just trying to point out that we can salvage this but not with that bull Georgetown elitist attitude. Need to fix to it.

You reading the box score but I watched the game. He was the reason the offense opened up during that run. Hayes was awful as usual. If we could poll on this site you'd be the lonely vote for your observation.

Eagle, tonight is not about the fanbase or III. Team fought hard and almost came back against the #2 team in the country on the road. Let those that want to watch the game for enjoyment have a moment to find some silver lining. There have been plenty of games with no silver lining. It has been a rough season and seasons. Found the 2nd half enjoyable to watch even though the outcome was a loss. You can lead the drum section of the band tomorrow.

Even if Pryor made the dunk or both free throws our fate was sealed. Too many fouls to start the half. Hard to overcome that.
Also Govan coming in means three scoring threats on the floor. Agreed box score won't show that.

C'mon this is a big time college basketball program that continues to fail. It's been several years of this so tonight's somewhat close game doesn't quite excite me as something to celebrate. I don't understand the fanbase here that accepts this performance. It's not about tonight. Bigger picture.

I watched him play this game and many others. I don't want to disparage his play this season so I'll stop there. Admit Govan was the catalyst for that run to pull us back in the game. They ran the offense through him and it was clear to even Raftery that was what was happening.

Tonight is about tonight. Over 300 days a year are not game nights.
Also silver lining does not equate moral victory. Nice strawman.

Tough loss, but spotting teams a 15+ point lead in the first half is not a recipe for winning games. I know it worked for the Patriots this week but that's a unique case.
My kingdom for boxing out on the defensive boards.
