Georgetown transfer Isaac Copeland told ESPN he is considering Arizona, Arizona state, NC State, Texas, UConn, Kansas and Nebraska. Share 3h I wouldn't be shocked if Copeland enrolled at Nebraska, he has a close friend who transferred from Louisville to Nebraska. It was just announced that Anton Gill is out for the season with an injury. They could both rehab together and now potentially play a season together as well.

From Big East also ran to Big 10 non-entity. Sad.

The Hoya-to-Husker pipeline. Indeed, Hunter -> Ayega -> Copeland

Ike could have picked a lot worst to transfer to. Nebraska lost to Northwestern yesterday, but before that they had a 5 game winning streak that included back to back to wins @ #16 Indiana then @ Maryland.

Definitely seems to be a program on the rise.

Good luck to him. I hope he does well there and gets back to freshman Ike.

Kenya Hunter, the former Georgetown assistant who recruited Copeland to the Hoyas, is now a Nebraska assistant.
“Nebraska has everything I need,” he told ESPN. “A great plan for my recovery after surgery and environment I feel like I can get better in.
There’s a lot of familiar faces there for me and I think I will fit in well.”

Interesting...thought he would go to a higher level program but it's not like Nebraska is completely terrible. Tough place to win, though. Great facilities, so-so fan support, obviously the Hunter and Gill connections were big selling points. Seems like Ike felt he needed to go somewhere that he'd get a lot of love and be one of the top options offensively. Not sure that's what he needs to really improve and get where he wants to go, but best of luck to him.

"Copeland said watching Nebraska's double-overtime win over Iowa on his official visit and then going over other game film with head coach Tim Miles made it clear he would fit right into the Huskers' system. "I saw a lot in the game and also in the meeting the next day," Copeland said. "Coach Miles did a great job of breaking my game down from a freshman to the little bit I played in my junior year, and he had all my stats, all my shots and everything. Things I'd never even heard about: areas on the floor where I'm really effective and stuff like that and things I need to work on." I'm not sure if this falls into the lack of development plan from the GU staff in not using analytics.

Good luck to Ike. Sounds like he found a coach that will invest in him and give him a great chance to succeed. I hope he can take advantage. And I agree with aaw, why are all these analytical stats news to Ike? Do the Hoyas not provide this to their own players?

First it was the opponent revealing what they think of us and now it's a former member of the team revealing he didn't get important analytical info from our staff.

I'm not sure if this falls into the lack of development plan from the GU staff in not using analytics. I have long suspected that the staff does not properly use advanced analytics given some of the decisions that have been made in the past (like allowing Hopkins to have huge usage when he wasn't very good offensively). Generally, I support the staff, but if they truly don't use analytics, then that's inexcusable. If I were a head coach, either I would be well versed in it, or have an assistant who was. There's just no excuse. This isn't 1975.

You could also deploy some of the 3.8 million in salary and higher a guy for 200K who could do all this for you. Just a thought.

JT3 hiring actual assistants who're well versed in providing that specified breakdown and using stats to help out the players and new recruits coming in.

JT3 hiring actual assistants who're well versed in providing that specified breakdown and using stats to help out the players and new recruits coming in. It doesn't even need to be an assistant. This is easily something somebody like Ewing Jr. or Wallace could do. In fact, it's the type of thing they'd be smart to add to their duties even if nobody wants them too. Advanced analytics are here to stay and if they are serious about coaching themselves, eventually, they should incorporate it into their approach, even now. The program spends so much money on so many things, advanced analytics would be a drop in the bucket.
