I'm wondering if GU would get a high seeding in the NIT or CBI?

Yeah, there was always an avenue for some optimism given the weak bubble and strong SOS. But that optimism should have been cancelled out by any realistic assessment of whether the team could execute to take advantage of that avenue. I suppose the wave was riding high on the Butler win, and the Marquette win brought it back a bit. For me, the SHU loss at home was the tipping point. I held out a little hope up until that point. But after that loss, I realized it just wasn't going to happen this year. Again. Sad state of affairs...

Not bad at all, hopefully GU won't turn down the invite. They could at least run the table and win it all at MSG.

It's more frustrating for us than it is for fans of most teams because this will be yet another year when have a great SOS, at least 3-4 good wins, and yet still wont make the tournament. That's why it is somewhat justified to be optimistic throughout the season. It would be one thing if we were 10-16, 2-12.

Right - and I would argue this year is even more frustrating (assume we don't meltdown in last 4 regular season games) because a win vs. Maryland might end up being the difference between in and out of the field.

Well, using the KenPom probabilities, we were only about 3% to win the four games before Villanova (of course, now it's 0 since we lost Saturday). Our probability of winning the next four is 4.47%. So not impossible, but very, very, unlikely.

So not impossible, but very, very, unlikely. So you're saying there's a chance! I can't even imagine a scenario at this point where this team wins all 4 remaining games and then wins a couple in the BE tourney. But that's what they need to do to get into the NCAAs. It is possible? I guess. But I certainly wouldn't put any money on it.

That's a much better percentage then having to win 4 games in a row and have to beat Villanova. Plus there's still no guarantee of getting in with 4 regular season wins to get you to 18 wins.

It is possible? I guess. But I certainly wouldn't put any money on it. If we go 9-9 (again unlikely), I think one BET win would be enough for us to make it. As others have said, the bubble simply isn't that good, and if we go 9-9 (which by necessity includes a win against Villanova) with 4 top wins, we will probably make it. If we go 8-10, then I think assuming we play Wednesday, we need to make the BET final (11-11 final record with a loss in the BET final). Again, in that scenario not only would we have beaten Villanova, but we would've also likely gotten another good win in the BET leading up to the final. All these scenarios are hugely unlikely but I would be thrilled for them to happen, of course.

Zero as an at-large. Still a chance to win the Big East tourney. It's more likely we lose the 8-9 game on Wednesday than run the table, but there's better than a 0% chance that a BET miracle happens.

There is still a chance to make the NIT's, but it is a very slim chance.

BET or bust! Also a good shot to take 'Nova down a seeding level.

Here's my prediction. We lose to SJU and the Hall. We crush Nova. Then we make it to the BE finals and get killed. Seems about right for this season.

Seems like GU dropped in the NIT seeding, they have to do better to get a high seed.

Not picking on you, but why do people say things like this? We are just bad. It's not like we are some crazy, unpredictable team. We were 0-4 in the BE, then we were 3-6, and now we are 5-10. There isnt too much mystery to it. There is no chance we are going to crush Nova.
