Am I the only one who read USC-upstate coach's comments as having some shade aimed at us. Seemed like he said I have no idea if Georgetown is any good - they just hurt us with the press because we didn't know what we were doing but I doubt that will work on a better team.
Or am I being too sensitive?

Too many inferior teams have come in thinking they have a chance to win, we've let them get comfortable, gain confidence and then are surprised when we lose or sweat out a way too close victory. I hope we press the out of these teams. More dunks. More alley-oops. Embarrass them and let their coaches have sour grapes and throw shade. hm

Glad to see that the two of you are chasing each other around Hoyatalk in order to infect as many threads as possible with your Editeding contest. He started it. I'm rubber, you're glue . . . Two third graders arguing. In the future, why don't you guys take this juvenalia offline?

Well, it helps entertain us during the off-season. Maybe an in-season moratorium?

And no minutes for Reggie. Injured? They showed JTIII talking to Reggie a couple of times. Have to think there may a little nagging injury, coach did not want to take a chance on aggravating it? Saw that! Coach Reggie, baby!

Not a fan of embarrassing teams, and I don't see JTIII allowing that.
But nothing wrong with playing hard for 40 minutes, and fitting in a little fun when you get the chance.

LIC were you there? Was that the St. Joe's game? No, the St. Joe'sgame was a fiasco. Frank scored his 29 first half points against NYU, when they were good in bball. Televised game and then we got crucified by the NY press after the game, which we won. Were you there drq. Was that the game with the animal section doing anti-semitic chant? I vaguely remember that NYU game but only remember Frank having a good game against St Joe's at McDonough. Must have been '65. Remember his backup center Neil Heskin. broke bones in his legs so many times he remarked that he was a horse he would have been shot.

Guess I was wrong in saying that Frank H. had the record for points in one half. Comes with age! I had thought Frank scored 29 points in a half vs NYU. It was the NYU game (at least I got that right, drq) but according to DFW it was 26:
Points In One Half Player No. 1. Gerald Riley vs. Miami 2/7/2004 29 2. Austin Freeman vs. Connecticut 1/9/2010 28 3. Charles Smith vs. Notre Dame 3/19/1989 28 4. Jaren Jackson vs. Seton Hall 3/5/1988 27 5. Frank Hollendoner vs. NYU 2/5/1966 26 6. Bob Ward vs. LaSalle 12/11/1965 26 7. Jim Barry vs. Fairleigh Dickinson 2/27/1965 25 8. Jim Barry vs. Navy 1/6/1963 24 9. Austin Freeman vs. Louisville 2/23/2010 24 10. Jim Christy vs. Maryland 2/25/1964 22 10. Jake Gibbons vs. Canisius 12/19/1964 22 10. Charles Smith vs. Shenandoah 12/10/88 22
So the points in one half is still 29, but according to the list it was Riley who has the record.

I guess there's a fine line between having fun and showing up the other squad. We always seem to err on the side of being REALLY cautious in that regard. I love seeing the guys have some fun out there and, because I'm a fan, my perspective is probably a bit skewed. Maybe the pass off of the backboard was over the top but I do like that we have guys that can potentially make and finish that play at a number of slots. It probably is over the line but, selfishly, I do wish they finished it.

It's not like we showed up Villanova and they'll get any revenge. It's about time we started showing ourselves and putting people on alert. Time to play with an attitude. If you don't want to get shown up then stop us. Their conference rival didn't care about showing us up in the tournament a few years back.

Pops' teams had no problem laying the wood to over matched teams. I loved it, too. Straight up beat downs. I'll take a dose of that attitude from III's teams!

Did anyone else notice JT2 talking to a giant (7 foot 3 or more) kid during the halftime intermission? I was sitting on the other side of the Verizon Center, so I did not get a great look. The person looked like he could be anywhere between 16 and 25 from my vantage point. He towered over JT2. I couldn't find any legit giants on the recruiting board.

1. Obviously, nice start! 2. I thought the USC-Update coach's comments were odd, as well. I also don't care what he had to say. 3. In the KC-Eagle Steel Cage Match, I am going for the obvious choice. Meteor. Stop polluting threads with your squabbles, fellas.

His son is a Hoya walk on. That's probably who you saw.
