Much better team this year. Faster, deeper, more talented BUT still not liking the half court offense. Watch top 10 teams play and it's all about dribble penetration. We still get into an offensive rut when we try to work that neo-princeton offense. And yes, Govan is still a work in progress. JT3 should make him watch replays of the Upstate 7 foot 300 pounder blowing by him. they played zone the whole game there was no neo-princeton anything.

Of course there's a lot to work on. Lots of new additions and it was the first game. But, damn, that was fun!

Nice start in decisive win. After last year I won't take anything for granted and glad we handled business the way we should.

Are we playing a college or prison tomorrow? That's racist. I think you're racist with associating prison with racism. You made that leap not me. Doesn't surprise anyone though as your just another Trump bigot from what I've read.

Impressed with Mosely. I did not expect him to start but I can see why he did. Good defense and poise. I really liked his passing too. It wasn't about flashy plays, he just fed the post well and kept the ball moving. I'm looking forward to how he plays against MD...but I think the Hoyas may have the pg they need.

And in his first game too in which he had to have some tentativeness and/or butterflies. Even with the new guys, my biggest concerns while watching today were Derrickson's health and Govan's hands. And 3 new guys got a lot of run. It is only one game but the new blood looked like returning players to me. Granted, two guys have college experience but this is a new environment and staff and level for them too. And, FWIW, while USC Upstate isn't Maryland, they space the floor well and move the ball quickly for the most part. The defensive switches looked better today than they did at the end of last year. We're still not fighting over enough picks but the rotations and switches were much better on day one with new guys playing heavy minutes. Jagan, in particular, looked locked in on D. As a freshman. In his first game. He's got fan favorite written all over him. I said the same thing in the Midnight Madness thread based on his personality. He's got the tenacity in his game to go with it. I'm really excited to see what he's able to do over the course of his career.

I'm really excited to see what he's able to do over the course of his career. Loved all we got from the new guys, and tickled me to see the big smile on Muresan's dad's face when he got into the game at the end as well. I think our post defense wasn't even as bad as it looked, as it seemed to me the refs took pity on their thick center over the last 10 minutes and called any contact his way (since he already had 4 fouls). I thought Jesse played pretty solid D on at least one or two of those calls. I do think that there is plenty to work on in terms of defense rebounding positioning, but overall, I was very happy to have an opening game that went like it's SUPPOSED to go -- dominant early, and then cruise control while trying out different combinations. By the way i LOVED the alley-oop. I hate that we haven't used that as much over the past few years, but I think this year that's gonna change noticeably!

RE Akoy-hustles but hasn't got back his full mobility and quickness off the floor to rebound yet. Especially evident in the rebounding piece. Hope his knee holds up, What is the status of Derrickson's health?
