Saw him play in person this summer with Loaded. Not a lost at all that we didn't make his cut list IMO. The other BIGs the staff is on in this class (Bates/Fleming even Durr) and the 19 class have higher upside. Good luck to the young man in his future.

Maybe the 33 is a subliminal message that he's really picking Georgetown?

Very disappointing, and even a bit shocking to me...probably a bit of a homer response, but almost seems somewhat disrespectful to PE/Georgetown based on what I perceive they could offer this guy...Okla. St. (yeah I know one of his AAU coaches went there), NC St.? over Patrick Ewing and Georgetown? Frustrating, but move on...get somebody better... Don't forget that Ewing has zero history in college basketball, and we are a program in transition. Even a school like NC State has a coach in Keatts who has a history coaching somewhere else. And things like AAU coaches make a huge difference. Would Mitchell Robinson have committed WKU if not for the assistant that had been there? I think Georgetown has a lot to offer, but we are basically at a low right now. We can win some recruiting battles, but we aren't in the best position at the moment regardless of the Ewing name.

we aren't going to land any of the top recruits until pat can prove he can win. That's why I'm not particularly hopeful about our 2018 class. Got to give pat more time.

Once Duke an Kansas got involved I didn't think our chances were very good to land him, but it would have been nice to make it to his final group. It would be nice to think the Hoyas and Ewing have as much appeal as some of those other schools that made the final cut. Your going to win some and lose a lot of them in the recruiting battles. Keep working hard and get some hungry players to commit and then you just need to develop those kids.

He literally fell into our lap.

Gotta have/get the players in order to win...but you don't necessarily have to win big immediately to get them...PE (and staff) just have to find guys who are "feeling" them and Georgetown as well as his track record and who want to be a part of the resurgence...getting the first wave of "believers" is critical, and thereafter with the early progress the recruiting will get even better on a national level.

He literally fell into our lap. He didn't literally fall in our lap. When he decommitted, he was universally a heavy Maryland lean. Ewing flat out stole him. So you need to stop pushing your narrative. It isn't accurate.

We landed a top 60 guy in the class of 2017. So people need to stop saying this. It's simply not accurate. I think there's some truth all around here. Teams that are not very good, and haven't proven they can win, get top 100 recruits all the time. Chris Mullin had no experience at all and landed some decent talent. I definitely think we can pull in some top 100 guys who fit and have a desire to come to Georgetown. Pickett definitely did not just "fall into our lap" - we went out an got him. Contrarily, I think there are a lot of things going against us that make it harder. And I do think that the one-and-done types are very, very unlikely to come to Georgetown without our winning under Ewing, but not impossible if you find the right fit. Virtually all teams recruit better coming off good seasons. It's no coincidence that the immediate aftermath of the Sweet 16 and Final Four in 2006/2007 saw among the best recruiting we've had, and it continued a few years. Even being better than expected this season would be useful. I actually think that the one defensible reason for scheduling more poorly is recruiting. If getting more wins makes some recruits think we are winning and doing well, then it actually could be a net plus (though I still wouldn't follow that approach).

Hope he chooses NC State. It would help us increase the chances of getting Bates.

I don't think McCormack will choose NC St...but I think Manny ought to go to G'town anyway where he'll have an opportunity to play for a HOF center (college All American, NBA all star, NBA Coach)...that's his best opportunity to the league...

I think Bates has the higher upside than Mccormick. I agree with your reasoning for Bates to choose Gtown. I just don't want McCormick to Xavier.

I think coming to GTown is his best option for a long career in the league. Other schools might offer higher chances of getting his name called and then being overseas in 2or3 years....
