Playing in his home state, David McCormack was tremendous on Wednesday. The big man who is one of the hardest playing kids in the class used that motor to his advantage and found a way to have a big game. McCormack rebounded well and showed a better scoring touch than usual on his way to a monster performance. McCormack averaged a double-double for the day and was also a force on the defensive end using his size and physicality to create problems on the low block. Recruiting: McCormack has offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, NC State, Texas, Kansas, Georgetown, and Xavier www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1785076-nbpa-top-100-wednesday-top-performers?s=143

“There are a lot of good big men here but watching him a little bit, (David) McCormack has done well. I have seen him killing it. He is just a big body that, if guards get in the lane, he will dunk it. He is just a smart big.” -2018 guard Devon Dotson Reid and McCormack were arguably two of the top five big men at the NBPA Top-100 Camp, as each was rather dominate in the paint. While Reid can oftentimes play a bit too much facing the basket, whenever he plays near the rim he simply overpowers his defender. McCormack, on the other hand, is a consistent producer because he knows where his bread is buttered, which is 10-feet and in; he's a solid paint producer who rebounds and finishes. McCormack remains rather wide open as his recruitment extends from coast to coast. He will visit Duke on Saturday as the Blue Devils could have the upper hand over others such as Virginia, Virginia Tech and Kansas. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/camp-chatter-what-top-prospects-at-nbpa-top-100-camp-were-saying

This weekend, McCormack will see two more ACC schools – Duke and N.C. State. McCormack isn't yet sure when he will cut things down but finding a program that plays through its big men is going to be a priority. "I haven't trimmed my list at all," he said. "I'm actually still open to all schools and I'm still open to all coaches and building the best relationships that I can. "I'm looking at inside-out style of play, coaching style, how they develop their big men and the ways that they want to use them." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/nbpa-top-100-four-star-center-david-mccormack-making-his-push

He was planning an unofficial visit to Duke this past weekend and he’ll follow that with a visit to N.C. State. He’s already visited Virginia a couple of times. His AAU coach was recently hired by Oklahoma State. And he definitely plans to talk to Pat Ewing about Georgetown. McCormack said that he has no list yet and no timetable to make a decision. Duke’s chances appear to be pretty good, but far from a lock. www.dukebasketballreport.com/2017/6/19/15828280/following-the-recruits-duke-basketball

One of the top centers in the 2018 class, McCormack has seen his recruitment turn into a blueblood affair this spring. Due to the dearth of quality centers in his class and how much better McCormack has gotten, practically every program in America has dished out an offer to him. The question becomes who are the legit suitors for McCormack? Oklahoma State recently hired David Kontaxis, a one-time assistant at James Madison who has ties to the Team Loaded travel program, the program that McCormack has played for the past three years. McCormack took an unofficial visit to Oklahoma State last week as the Cowboys are definitely in a good spot for him. However, this is far from a finished deal as Duke, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Louisville, Kansas and a slew of others remain involved. During his time at the NBPA Top-100 Camp last week, McCormack said there was still some time to go before he could even trim his list down. Do not expect any sort of commitment from McCormack until the fall. While the hiring of Kontaxis has placed Oklahoma State on solid ground, the top-50 big man’s commitment is not set in stone. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twittertuesday-latest-on-mccormack-ucla-s-dilemma-washington-s-future?utm_content=buffer7ba7f&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Saw him play live with Loaded VA and was severely disappointed. Watched him get eaten up consistently by other teams BIGs. He struggles mightily with moving laterally and was consistently lost in pick and roll. He's also not anywhere close to a rim protector. While he plays a physical offensive game, that style doesn't translate defensively. Watched an out of shape mid major at best Post player who's in the 19 class take it to McCormack over and over again with little to no resistance. Truth be told, he's the 3rd best post player on the Loaded squad. Scouts are in love with his size, offensive physicality and body transformation but I think his ranking will continue to drop. He will still be a top 100 player because there just aren't that many good BIG's in the 18 class.

That's interesting because his ranking seems to be going in the opposite direction and he just showed well at Adidas Nations.. Averaging 16-9 on the circuit and shooting 66% from the floor... adidasuprising.com/gauntlet-series-gold-division-standings/I've seen him at times look fantastic I've seen him other times look just ok but think that's a bit harsh based on what I've seen and what he's done this summer. None of these kids are finished products, he's moving in the right direction... Don't think he ends up at Gtown though...

One more to really consider as a player who may be most watched is four-star center David McCormack. A true big man with strength, size and touch, McCormack will soon be the recipient of a pretty sizable bump up from his current spot of No. 60 in the 2018 Rivals150 . Given that he is yet to narrow his list and has been busy with unofficial visits (Duke, NC State and Oklahoma State being the most recent) it's reasonable to expect that he will draw a ridiculous group of coaches. Among the many other programs who can be expected to be watching closely are Kansas, Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech, LSU and Georgetown . basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rival-views-which-players-will-be-most-closely-watched-in-july-

The building was jam-packed on Thursday evening for top-50 center David McCormack, as head coaches from Oklahoma State, Kentucky, N.C. State and Virginia, along with assistants from North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, California, Louisville and Virginia Tech, were in attendance. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/adidas-gauntet-finale-who-coaches-were-watching

That's why I wanted someone to ask about Pat being in attendance. If Corey Evans knows that people are interested in knowing he is there, then he'll share the info.

McCormack, who weighed close to 300 pounds last year, has shed 40 pounds, according to Oak Hill coach Steve Smith. “That was an issue,” Smith said Wednesday, “but he looks completely different than he did, even in the springtime. He’s a ‘5’ man (a center). He’s one of those few guys who knows what he is and doesn’t mind it. “Most guys his size want to be a ‘4’ man or a ‘3’ man. His shot has developed over the last year or so. He can knock down 15-foot shots, but he’s an inside guy. He does all of his damage inside. He’s a good post defender and defender as well. “He’s got a lot of heavy hitters on him.” Smith reeled off a recruiting list for McCormack that included Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, Kentucky, Texas and UCLA. www.roanoke.com/sports/uva/doughty-college-notebook-virginia-tech-and-virginia-eye-oak-hill/article_0d9ee4b9-11ac-5808-9306-4321edeb9ef7.html

Corey Evans: David McCormack is the most recruited, non-five-star prospect that the industry has seen in recent years. McCormack, thanks to his throwback abilities in the post, academic background, consistent progressions and the dearth of quality centers in his class, is a wanted man for the best programs nationally. During his afternoon session on Friday, head coaches from Texas, Oklahoma State, UCLA, California, Kansas, Duke, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Louisville were each on hand for the top-50 center, displaying just how wide-ranging his recruitment really is. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rivals-roundtable-july-thoughts

Top 35 big man David McCormack of Team Loaded VA continues to impress. He didn't have a great night shooting the ball, but was active on the glass and controlled things with his physicality. Team Loaded VA is loaded with high level prospects like big men David McCormack and Armando Bacot plus wing Jairus Hamilton and many more. When they took the floor against the Mass Rivals (top 50 guards A.J. Reeves and David Duke) they did so with head coaches from Kansas, Marquette, Virginia, Miami, Villanova, Gonzaga, TCU and South Carolina -- to name a few -- were all on hand. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/bossi-s-takeaways-adidas-in-vegas-wednesday
