I guess but he has no ties to the DMV area other than his pursuit of a HM basketball scholarship. It's not like you can sell him on the play in front of your family and friends angle, his fam lives in North Carolina... Either way I was just clarifying...

The UConn Huskies might have gotten a late jump on Josh Carlton, but they seem to have great closing speed. The 6-foot-10 center, who plays at DeMatha Catholic along with another Class of 2017 UConn target in guard D.J. Harvey, will make an official visit to the Storrs, Conn. campus this weekend. It will be his first time at the school. Point guard Paul Scruggs, who is the 33rd-ranked player in the Class of 2017, will also be on his official visit. Scruggs and his Indy Hoosier teammate, 6-7 wing Kris Wilkes, both recently cut their college lists down to five and included the Huskies. “I started to see them in the spring and summer,” Carlton said, about when UConn started to look at him. “In July I started seeing them at a lot of my games.” The scouting report on Carlton is he’s a great rebounder and shot-blocker, who is known for having excellent hands on the offensive end. “I’m just exploring my options right now and make a decision when it feels right,” Carlton said about his recruiting process. “If a visit feels right (I’ll make my decision).” connecticut.rivals.com/news/josh-carlton-making-visit-to-uconn

But you'd expect the staff to be able to identify kids that play a few miles from campus. Seems like he sort of snuck up on everyone.

Hard to really totally evaluate someone in that setting because he is more of an offensive big then a rim protecting shot blocker. So not really that surprising they wouldnt be all in on him yet.

I get that recruiting isn't a crystal ball but here is a big man that plays locally on a prominent squad, Georgetown is a school that is known for developing bigs and the young man doesn't seem to have an overly impressive list of schools ( pre summer ). We should have been more in there, knowing one and maybe 2 of our current C's will be gone. Hopefully he is seriously considering us.

Carlton has emerged this summer as a high-major target, garnering offers from many top schools across the country.
"UConn, Georgetown, Clemson, and USC are some of the schools I'm considering the heaviest at this point," he shared.
_________
From Aug 17 Uconn article, thought I posted before but guess not. Lots of Uconn chatter fwiw

If we could get him and his family here for an official on the Oct 5th-6th weekend when a lot of the former players (esp. centers) will be here, I would hope we'd have a very good shot at landing him...
