But what a great story it would be if the Cubbies - whose last WS Championship was 108 years ago, finally get back there... and LOSE to a team who last won 68 years ago?!?!
Hey, I think it's great for MLB to have these two classic franchises fighting for it all. It will be a good outcome for baseball either way - except for the fans in one of those mid-west cities.

Fair enough. Knowing your friend is happy will keep my bike to a minimum should the Cubs win Haha! Trust me, if 1997 wasn't nearly 20 years ago now, I'd be much more torn. In October of 1997, I watched the whole ALCS at the Carnegie Hill Brewing Company. During game five, I was there with 3 Hoyas (all Yankees fans) and the girl I was dating at the time who, as luck would have it, was from Cleveland. She proceeded to dance on the bar when Bernie Williams made the last out, laughing at us the whole time. That was brutal.

Having spent my law school years in Cleveland, back in the days of Dennis Kucinich, Ted Stepien, Joe Charbonneau and a good Browns football team, I grew to appreciate how utterly devoted and passionate the northern Ohio sports fan is. Even with the Cavaliers' title, there has been a heap of empty seasons above and beyond what any one city should have had to endure. I'd ordinarily be rooting for the Cubs, but Chicago has celebrated numerous championships from the Blackhawks, White Sox and Bulls.
Even given what is possibly the most racist logo in all of sports, I'm pulling for the Tribe.

This should be a fun series to watch. I don't hate the Indians the way that I did in the late 90's but I have to pull for the Cubbies out of respect for my freshman year roommate whose favorite all time player is Ryne Sandberg. Whichever team wins, it'll make for a great story. Cleveland is having some sports year so far, huh? Maybe it is penance for having to host the Republican National Convention?

I am sick to death of the "lovable" Cub fans and if I see that has-been Bill Murray once more this fall, I will puke. Go Tribe Has-been Bill Murray just won the Mark Twain Award, and was described in an article I read not long ago as an American treasure. So each to his own. I do recall Moping Bill being shown in the stands when Xavier lost in last year's basketball tournament, but I felt his pain. Go Indians, anyway, although if they win, I'll be very surprised.
