I realized with 10 minutes left I was sitting in my recliner instead of the couch, the couch I sat in for the entire Xavier game. I moved to the couch and the rest is history. You're all welcome and can find my butt glued to the couch Saturday night. BTW, how about some JT3 love. I can't believe he kept his cool and didn't get a T when Jesse fouled out. Amazing poise and self control. Compare his cool to Laitos two T's in the last 5 minutes of a game DePaul was only 7 points behind. Burn the recliner. I don't want to risk the chance of similar mistakes in the future.

1. Boy, Watson is exciting to watch. From what I have seen this year, if I had my choice of any one BE person I'd like to have on our team, he is it. Because of him, Creighton is entertaining to watch. Also, because of him I believe Creighton has a better team than the Hoyas. 2. Our bench scored almost half of our points. 3. I, too, really like the LJ I see developing. 4. I hate it when guys complain about officiating but this was the all-time worst. 5. Good game by Ike. 6. DSR calm on the last FTs. 7. I want to see more of Kaleb. May be the most athletic player on team. Looking forward to his developing his shot. 6. 6-2 in BE looks pretty good.

We had one in 1965-66, when we were down by 9 at MSG with one minute to go, and we won. I think it might have been against NYU, which was a power in those days. 79 80 i believe we were down 8 against BC at the Roberts Center with about 1:32 to go Mike Frazer hits and one layup makes the free throw to tie it we win in overtime. Frazier!!!!!!

Wait, what? They sent a league rep up into the stands? I definitely noticed the heavy security presence at the front of the student section late in the second half. Thought that was odd. Interesting. Last year I sat behind the Creighton bench. After an early Blue Jays run, one of their fans turned to crowd behind and bellowed, "We're in the Big East now!" That elicited the expected reply from Hoya fans, and soon after we took control of the game. Naturally, to the coach and his son, we offered a special "Welcome to the Big East" greeting. Soon after, someone from the Verizon Center security team came over and told a nearby fan that complaints had been received about his use of the word "damn." It was suggested that he could get tossed. Damn, that's harsh.

Do I get partial credit for putting the game on pause, turning my phone off, and allowing my learners permitted 16 year old to drive herself (and me in the death seat) to hockey practice when JTIII was being restrained after Govan's 5th foul then watching the resurrection on delay? Simply put, NO. Tough grader. And ditto my post above.

You may be called upon to leave future games at key moments where victory seems just out of reach. Can we set up some sort of bat signal that lets you know when you have to take one for the team and miss witnessing a glorious comeback? Do I get partial credit for putting the game on pause, turning my phone off, and allowing my learners permitted 16 year old to drive herself (and me in the death seat) to hockey practice when JTIII was being restrained after Govan's 5th foul then watching the resurrection on delay? The real question is: which did you use for your excuse for drinking heavily last night, the Hoyas agony/ecstasy or the white-knuckle terror trip?

I'm just glad we shoved it down their throats after they were celebrating and chest-bumping at mid-court late in the game (at the under-4 timeout, maybe)?
Felt just as good as when we did the same to Pitt and that fat sack Levance Fields after they started celebrating a little to early many years ago...

Great finish last night. This game has the potential to be a major teaching point for the players and the coach. The players: DSR - watching the first 46 minutes of the game was as frustrating as the prior games where the Hoyas lost. Watching DSR traverse around the top of the key, alternating dribbling and passing around the ball to teammates, refusing to use the pick set by a big and jacking up contested threes. The last four minutes I saw the real potential this kid has to take this team to another level. He drove the ball into the lane almost exclusively, regardless of whether he got that pick or not. He also posted up a shorter Watson for a score. He also without the use of a pick drove the ball past over half court, stopped at the three point line and simply rose up to shoot over a three inch shorter Watson for a score. The kid was being aggressive, which made everyone else on the team aggressive. They ran to the boards or ran to make themselves available for a pass from him. They made themselves available to set picks for him. All of these things are tools already incorporated in the system, but are either not being used, or being used without much enthusiasm. The kid is not the swiftest, but still can get into the lane. This offense is about making the proper read of the defense, to see what are they giving you. The players have to make the proper read and react, either cut and receive pass from teammate who made the same read or fan out to the wings and receive pass from teammate who made same read or run to the rim to be in position for a rebound of shot by teammate who made the same read that the drive to the basket was open. In short all these things are in this offense. Teams have the scouting report on the Hoyas that must read like this: Play each man tight and run with him wherever he goes. When offensive player receives pass on the wings run hard at him because he will not put the ball on the floor and drive pass you to the basket. When pick is set out front don't try to go over it because guard will not try to penetrate 90 per cent of time. This scouting report has led to the Hoya offense looking very stagnant for long periods of time simply passing the ball around the horn, looking for a cutter that is cutting but not open. With no timeouts DSR was the coach on the floor and he made the proper read that what was open was the dive to the basket. His teammates seeing that same read went to the basket for the rebound. Copeland - The young man has enormous potential regardless of his shooting slump. He can do so many other things to help this team win, such as rebounding and playing solid defense, as he did last night. So there is no need to force up a 3pt shot, just take the open 2pt shots that will come within the offense, and where there is a WIDE OPEN 3pt shot, don't think just rise and release. Hayes - The young man is getting to be money when he gets the ball within four feet of the basket just like Smith was last year. He doesn't draw as many fouls because he is jumping away from the basket with his jump hook. He does not have quick feet so don't follow the opposing center all the way out to the key. If the center is serving the pick for a guard then so be it, just be in the middle of the lane when the guard comes off the pick to be read to make one step and jump to block shot instead of having to chase the quicker guard down into the lane to try to block his shot. If the guard pulls up an shoots the shot before he gets into the lane, he is shooting with Hayes hand in his face. If he hits it, then so be it its better than an "an one" after he chases and fouls him. Govan - So much potential for the young man. He has so many more options when gets the ball than Hayes does that I think he over thinks what he should do. Teams are not doubling him now, so he should just simplify it by saying if the defender is on my left side then my shot will be this but if he is on my right side then my shot is this. Defensively same thing applies to him as Hayes, although he is quicker. Don't follow the big past the free throw line, make guard coming off the pick come to him instead of chasing from the top of the key. Cameron- Young man is really exceeding what I thought he would bring to this team, in offense and defense,so it is hard to think what else he can improve upon other than his passes into the post and to cutters to the basket. Pull the trigger man, I have screamed at the tv for you to pass the Baal into Hayes or Govan when they have worked to get the defender on their back five feet from the basket and he just dribbles the ball back out front for hand off to guard. When 3pt shot is there pull the trigger, you have gained my confidence, unlike last year, where I now expect it to go in most of the time. Peak - Oung man just has to keep trying to get to the basket on the dribble, just needs to add an extra dribble before he rises to attack the rim, not many guards or forwards will be able to meet him at his apex to block his shot. Saw some good signs of playing defense without use of hands last night, so he may yet become that lock down defender Coach JTIII - coach the beginning of the game like you did the last four minutes, give DSR the freedom, or instruct him to take guys to the basket from the start if that is the proper read for the offense, simply running the offensive sets, passing and cutting just to show that is what you want to do waists time and scores when the defense is saying that is all we will let you do by playing you tight man- to-man. Don't be afraid to use Mourning for short periods of time that will give the Hoyas the advantage against big cumbersome centers. When they begin to take advantage as last night then you can go back to Hayes or Govan who should be ready to go. Mourning was the most important Hoya in the game last night to me. The Hoyas were getting B- slapped at home by an inspired Creighton team with not much resistance. Then an old familiar number(33) came onto the court with the same determination as his father and changed a seven point deficit into a one point Georgetown lead. The first thing he did was tip a driving shot of the forward who had blown past Cameron to the basket as he had done without much resistance earlier only to find number 33 waiting for him. I jumped up out of my chair when on the other end number 33 rose up and took the open 12 foot shot Hayes and Govan had declined to take and drained it, followed by another shot minutes later that also was true. I can only imagine the pride the elder Mourning felt in watching his son give the struggling Hoyas their mettle to withstand the Bluejays and ultimately win the game. For that brief time he was on the court in the first half, he should be credited with the game ball.

Sooooooooooooooooooooo...did we actually learn anything last night?
The narrow defensive question was "Can we stop Mo Watson from penetrating?". We didn't. He got into the lane at will, usually with a simple screen but sometimes just 1-on-1. But at the key moments of the game, we stopped him with a full-court press. Sure.
The broader defensive question was "Can we prevent Creighton's penetrate and kick game from generating open threes like happened in Omaha?" We didn't. Creighton got a boatload of wide open threes in both halves...aaaaaaaaaand shot 4-21. Guh?
Our most successful defense of the night was "desperation full court press when you don't care about fouling". It was awesome and it worked...but nobody except Bob Huggins on a few extra Mountain Dew Code Reds is gonna run that with any regularity.
For THAT matter, even the ending to this game, as weird and exciting as it was, can be summed up as "the Radford game if LJ made the FT at the end of regulation."
Everyone in both front courts was in foul trouble. Jessie Govan fouled out with less physical contact than I got in high school (at least Mike Eades wasn't whistling me). But hey, that meant Trey Mourning got some minutes, and made two swell jumpers...aaaaaaaaaaand then bricked one in the second half and it became abundantly clear he couldn't defend Creighton's fives, so scratch that idea.
The officiating was so heinous that on some level it makes any analysis of the game a giant shrug emoji. But officiating, whatever your feelings about the new rules emphasis, is essentially a random factor, particularly when you consider getting a crew as weird as this one. So IDK.
I feel like Patrick Bateman at the end of American Psycho saying this confession has meant nothing. (Related: Sorry to everyone about the cat blood on the Capital One ATM outside Section 120). We're rolling into Providence and I feel like I've been huffing paint for (checks watch) 24 hours now.
Welp, at least the game was really infuriating exhilarating annoying on some level really fun [screams internally]

So watching the replay wasn't as fun as being there last night but it did make me feel good about prospects for this team. Yeah Creighton gave us a great deal of trouble but the positive was that the Hoyas kept their composure in trying circumstances and beat their recent type of nemesis late in recent seasons: teams led by quick guards with drive and dish skills and with good three point shooters. Sure Creighton missed a bunch of threes but so did the Hoyas so that evened out. They didn't fold under the pressure and took advantage of their opportunities. That's the kind of effort that bodes well for whatever kind of post-season awaits them.

The press conference was pretty incredible. You can hear JT2 cursing about the refs and he says " F that.. last two games were terrible calls, you can tell the effing commissioner and everybody else in the big East that I said that". JT3 then answers the question politely and JT2 tells him to "shut up" Definitely worth a watch. That was one of the funniest "bad cop/good cop" segments I've ever seen/heard at a postgame presscon. where can i watch the press conference at?

Still surprised we pulled that off. Refs have screwed us a ton this year. I'm beyond frustrated. Honestly think jt iii needs a little more jt Jr. What more do you want JT3 to do? Specifics please. I was commenting that I like many here liked what jt Jr. said what he said at the press conference. I like when jt iii gets mad and shows some emotion when I feel we are getting hosed by the refs. And I liken that behavior to jt jr. That's what I meant.

Not to beat the refereeing dead horse, but the Derrickson foul on Huff's 3 pointer with about 3 minutes to play was an anticipation call. Fox showed a replay in which the official was in the foreground. I gave it the Zapruder film treatment on my DVR, and the ref clearly starts to raise his arm to make the foul call before Marcus actually makes contact.
In real time, it's a split second and you'd never know the difference - and Marcus did make contact. But the official made up his mind to call a foul before he actually saw anything.
Garbage.
