Just committed to Gonzaga. Good news for Woods/Eubanks fans I suppose.

No surprise here. Agreed with YaBoy, Zach's a good kid and I hope he kills it at Gonzaga. Thought he was a very good fit culture-wise for the Hoyas, but it was pretty clear the staff slow played him all along. With the recent recruitment of Eubanks, it's clear that the staff valued Kobie getting in the program this year over adding Norvell next year. I'm not real convinced that Norvell's Hoyas offer was "committable" at this point, anyway. But regardless, wishing Zach all the best at Gonzaga, glad he picked the Zags over a place like FSU.

Not surprised. There was no buzz about Hoyas. I would have chosen Washington DC over Washington State, but good luck to the kid.

The Zags will now have Norvell, Nigel Williams-Goss and Johnathan Williams III out there next year. I don't know about our actual level of interest in any or all of them, but they seemed to have pipped us for each one of them over the last few months. It's a damn shame Gonzaga is all the way over on the other side of the country -- they're the only team I'd want in an larger Big East.

Dense, I would take that over a 4/5 seed and round of 32 loss.

Kinda funny how much we were worrying about him committing and taking a spot we'd prefer go to other elite recruits and he doesn't even pick us nor does it look like the others will (except perhaps Eubanks who wasn't really in that conversation at the time). And by funny, I mean slightly depressing.

I'm happy for Norvell and his family. I think he made the right decision which is quite rare in college recruiting. Out of all his options, I think he made the best possible decision that gives him a chance to be impactful and successful on the basketball court.

Just curious why you think Gonzaga was the better option than Georgetown. Given your wording (impactful) I assume some of that is immediate playing time?

I've previously posted my thoughts on Norvell's skill set and possible fit with the team going forward. I'm not going to rehash all of them. I will say I was not a fan and thought he wouldn't make an impact in a Hoya uniform until possibly his Junior year. I thought Gonzaga or possibly Iowa St. was the best basketball fit for him to be able to make an earlier impact then at Georgetown or FL St. I thought Gonzaga allowed him to play at a national program that plays a minimum of 20 games a year against mid to low level competition in their conference. I thought Iowa St. was an outside possibility because of the new coaching staff.

Simeon kids usually turn out to be very good college players. The Ingram kid that hit Loyola's game winner is also from Simeon.

I love the debates between posters as to ceilings and floors. We really don't have a clue. This is the best post in this thread... It actually might be the best post in the history of the recruiting thread... lol
