Some Cub fans must have stuck around, as the local sports coverage last night not only showed the highlights of the game, but also showed Cub fans saluting the team after the game was over.
For our Daniel Murphy update, I understand that he and Lola were painting the town last night.

It's awfully quiet on this thread. What's everyone think? Royals win in five or in six?

Mets in 6. Pitching my friends. As my Yiddishe grandmother would say, "from your mouth to God's ears."

Game 1 comes down to Chris Young v. Bartolo Colon? Just like everyone predicted.

That is either incorrect or misleading. If Carey was talking about Young playing at Princeton when JT3 was an assistant coach, then yes -- he "played for Coach Thompson". But the year Coach T took over as head coach, Young opted for professional baseball. Despite losing his 6'10 center and former Ivy ROY, Thompson still won the Ivy championship in his first year - and in 3 of his 4 years at HC, before departing for GU.

Yes, JTIII was an assistant when Chris Young played at Princeton but there have been several occasions over the years when Young was in DC to pitch against the Nationals or here in the off-season (his wife is a Patrick of the famous hockey Patricks and his father in law is in with Leonsis as part owner of the Caps) when they have met and talked and both have referred to a coach-player relationship. JTIII always came out when the Padres were in town with both Young and Will Venable. Regarding the tweet above, there is also a Denver U tweet about Chris Young having played for Joe Scott, who also was a Princeton assistant at the time. I guess Holy Cross is asleep, since they have not tweeted anything about Bill Carmody coaching Young.

No. Credit where credit is due. While no blood has been drawn I home field yet, I like where you sit.

No. Credit where credit is due. While no blood has been drawn I home field yet, I like where you sit. Series is not over by any means. But the stats so far are crazy: - On Tuesday, Harvey threw 30 fastballs. The Royals swung at and missed two of them. On Wednesday, deGrom threw 54 fastballs. The Royals swung at and missed none of them.
- On Tuesday, Harvey threw 18 pitches with two strikes. The Royals swung at and missed one of them. On Wednesday, deGrom threw 28 pitches with two strikes. The Royals didn't swing at and miss a single one of them.
- Jacob deGrom has pitched in 55 games in his career... Last night is the first time he didn't produce a swing & miss with his fastball.

They are an amazing lineup with their contact stats. All that is eyewash though if Mets only get two hits a night.

Met pitchers need to ignore stats and pitch. Syndergaard is best when throwing gas and should do just that. His first pitch should buzz Escobar's tower at 100 just to say hello.
Then he should mix pitches as he always does. If the Royals beat him so be it, but he needs to pitch to his strength and see if it is enough.
No blood yet in this series but to call this a must game for the Mets is a gross understatement.

Does anyone else picture Elvado chomping on a cigar stump and hammering away at his typewriter as he bangs out his posts. Old school, man.
