The Nats are off to a terrible start. They can't hit with RISP, have no big bopper whom pitchers fear, field like little leaguers, and the bullpen thus far has sucked. With their starting rotation, I didn't think they'd lose five in a row all year. Shows what I know...

I hope you're right, 'rooter, but losing 13 out of the first 20 is not a good look. According to Zuckerman, only 3 teams since the turn of the century have made the playoffs after starting 7-13. We started slowly last year as well, but other than starting pitching, this year's version of the Nats does not appear to be as good as last year's team. I admit I am just a little worried at this point.

I don't have a problem with the Nats as a wild-card contender. . .just keep my Mets in first place.

I'm hoping we catch you by the break. I expect that the Nats will catch the Mets before the break. My masochistic tendencies do not permit me to fully buy into the team yet (not with Murphy butchering at least two defensive plays per game), but I'll enjoy this while it lasts.

But once the Nats get healthy, their line-up will be fine, and I honestly can't remember a better 1-5 rotation. The bullpen is truly a wild card, as you just never know what you will get from a pen one year to the next (unless you have a bunch of Mariano Riveras), but at the end of the day I'll be very surprised if they don't make their presence felt. In the meantime, I want to fire Andrew Friedman.

Friedman sure does make a lot of money... I think he's made a complete mess of the Dodger rotation. I hated both the McCarthy and Anderson signings (although I hated the Anderson signing less, because it's only for one year). How do you give a mediocre injury-prone pitcher a pricey four year deal based on two decent months with the Yankees? I was hoping I'd be wrong, but I wasn't. I'd rather they kept Dan Haren. I also hated the Kemp trade, not because they traded Kemp, which I could understand, but because all they got back was another crummy catcher. I'm not a fan of Grandal. I was so Editeded off that I wrote a letter to the LA Times yesterday. We'll see if it gets published on Saturday.

My sarcasm must not convey when you're woken up by screaming children. What do you mean "now?" They've been the best team all year. Just ask Bryce "where's my ring" Harper.

Quarter of the season now. How's your team doing?
Nats are playing well right now. Strasburg sucks so far. Somethings definitely wrong with him.

Today notwithstanding, the Royals are proving the run to the World Series was not a fluke. Plus, the last two teams leading the league in run differential and having the best record entering Memorial Day did pretty well: 2001 Mariners and 2007 Red Sox.

I've definitely taken note.

Oh, hey, look at who is in first place in the AL Central. And the young talent has even gotten to the majors yet.
