Let's cool it on the Durant talk. It is completely unrealistic and unfair to compare any NCAA freshman to an NBA MVP and one of the best scorers of this generation. No one is calling him KD. I, and others, use KD as a style of game comparison. That's all.

From now on, let's only compare players to themselves. That will avoid people having to have any kind of reading comprehension skills or sense of nuance.

I don’t really see the Durant comparisons tbh. Durant is basically a 6’11 SG, I don’t see that type of ability with Ike.
Durant is 1 of a kind...

Durant was 6'9 215 at Texas though. He hit another growth spurt after getting drafted. I don't see Ike averaging 25/11 like KD did but he could very well get to 20/8. The reason his averages are so low right now is b/c of the slow start. I don't think he has KD's handle either.

Their games don't mirror each other at all unless you just look at the fact that Ike is 6'9"/6'10" and has shown a much-improved ability to stroke it from deep. Other than that, there really isn't a comparison.

That’s what they listed him at but pre draft he was 6’10+ in Shoes but either way even if they were the exact same height I don’t see the comparison… Durant shoots and passes like a guard and his ball handling is elite for a player of his size. TBH it’s probably elite for a player of any size. Ike has a shorter Wingspan but a frame that looks like he could probably add weight easily as he matures while Durant is more wiry skinny and has a huge wingspan.. Video is to show his Ball handling/Guard Skills

Oh I don't disagree with you, but for those that don't watch a ton of NBA though they see a long, lean 6'9 guy who can stroke it from deep and has some handle and they think Durant. There are a number of NBA 3s who I think Ike's game more closely resembles even if he were to put more size on his frame.

There are a number of NBA 3s who I think Ike's game more closely resembles even if he were to put more size on his frame. Such as? I'd say more Paul George than KD for sure. The biggest knack on George coming out of Fresno St was that he couldn't create for himself and wasn't a great shooter pulling up of the dribble. I think Ike is much better than George was there, he's actually shot very well off the dribble IMO. Both rebound well for their position. Good vision and passing ability. I think Ike has a better BBIQ than George did at that time, he was known for being a bit of a chucker at times. Physically Ike doesn't have the wing span and George is another one of those guys that hit a growth spurt late but Ike is actually bigger than George was when he got drafted. Maybe Luol Deng too. Ike is a better athlete and 3 point shooter than Deng was when he left Duke, but I think he had a bit more post up game than Ike. Although Ike hasn't had many opportunities in the post since we generally don't pass to guards/wings down low, even with a size advantage.

I don’t really see the Durant comparisons tbh. Durant is basically a 6’11 SG, I don’t see that type of ability with Ike. Durant is 1 of a kind... He is, but they are both tall and lanky with a nice perimeter stroke. Visually they both go up for the shot similarly. Durant had and has a much better handle and dribble drive game. Both surprisingly tough on the D boards for guys with no muscle. Freshman Durant is better than Freshman Ike, which is why I said Durant-lite, but I think there's quite a few similarities in the body type and game. Ike doesn't even have the dribble drive game but I've seen him do that low-to-the-ground drive and lean that Durant does once or twice on the drive. Ike is a lot more like Durant, than say, Jeff, who had more bulk and an actual interior game. Ike's already a better shooter than Jeff was at any point in college from the perimeter, I think, but Jeff had a great post game and face up game within 15 feet that Ike doesn't have. He was also much more of a warrior-type down low. In terms of other player comps, I settled on a Durant-lite because Ike doesn't profile with a lot of tall shooters. He's not like Dirk -- who is even more one of a kind than Durant in many ways. He's not like a LaMarcus Aldridge, who is a post player who learned to shoot. He's not a Matt Barnes, a defensive type who added a three. He's not like Chris Bosh, who has a bunch of interior stuff that Ike doesn't have. He's not limited to spot-up stuff -- he can move and shoot which is a big difference than a lot of D and 3 types. I suppose maybe someone like Rashard Lewis? I just feel Ike is so much active than him than Lewis who always felt like a one dimensional dude on offense. But I don't remember young Rashard Lewis. Durant is one of a kind, but being 6'10" and able to shoot like him doesn't come along all that regularly, either.

I like the Rashard Lewis comp a lot more than the KD one.
Lewis could post up, face and besides shoot the deep ball, had a solid mid-range game.

I completely agree about the Rashard Lewis comp. the young Lewis who played himself into a mega contract.
I think Ike has nba level skill, but KD is on a different level.
Check this out if you have never seen it

Is that Hoya Jesse Sapp at 3:32? There are so many ridiculous things about that video--like how by the end, every made bucket brings throngs of people out onto the court--and yes, one of my favorite parts features Sapp yelling "I told you" as he walks by Mr. "It's Over" Throat-Cut Gesture Guy.

Adam Zagoria @adamzagoria 31m31 minutes ago Darrun Hilliard of Villanova also named Big East Player of the Week Isaac Copeland of Georgetown named Rookie of the Week That's Isaac's second win. No freshman has really pulled away from the pack this year, as five other freshman have won rookie of the week twice this year: Duane Wilson, Marquette; Angel Delgado, SHU; Isiah Whitehead, SHU; Khadeen Carrington, SHU; and Trevon Bluiet, Xavier.
