This is a sad discussion. We are terrible. We do not deserve to be in the tournament. Georgetown should be the poster child for moving the tourney back to 64 teams. I might agree with you if the tournament wasnt such a free for all, but because it is, there is nothing depressing about wanting to sneak in and give it a go.

If we make the tournament and WG doesn't, do you think they'll "storm the gates" again in protest?

My prescription is for you to read some of Elvado's thread about Harry. It makes everything seem a little brighter. And less sad.

FWIW - better than that Hack Lunardi.
Georgetown [17-13 (8-10), RPI: 55, SOS: 9] Now that the regular-season is over, we can officially give the Georgetown Hoyas this year's "Weirdest/Most Eclectic Bubble Resume" award. John Thompson III's team has a bunch of really quality wins, including neutral court victories over Michigan State and Kansas State and last week's convincing home win over Creighton. They also have a neutral-court loss to Northeastern in November (which is weird, because usually Georgetown loses to teams like Northeastern in March, heyo!) and a Xavier-esque sweep to Seton Hall. The Hoyas' RPI is borderline, but their schedule is top-10. The whole thing is just weird. A loss to DePaul in their first Big East tourney game would be a disaster. They need two wins to get into the tournament -- unless the committee especially favors the big wins and the schedule, which is totally possible. Your mileage may vary.

In a recent chat, Lunardi was openly disdainful about the Big East. He criticized the Big East teams for not having good OOC wins, yet he has St. Joe's (his employer) in the bracket, and their best win is against Vermont.

Yeah, guys like Lunardi and Palm are paid to drive traffic to their website. Judging by the way they talk on twitter, there are 15 teams in the tourney, and 53 on the bubble.

For you bracket guru's can the CNNSI Bracketology really occur? Can we really meet Creighton in the 2nd Rd or New 3rd Round (whatever you want to call it)? I thought conference foes could not meet until the elite 8? I certainly could be mistaken.

Intended to avoid having to slide teams up or down a seeding line to avoid the rematches.

They also recognized that with the expanded conferences, there are increased chances that a conference will get more than 8 teams in, so the old rule would not be feasible. Although I am sure they will try to avoid any conference matchups before the Elite Eight if possible.

Only two bubble games today of interest (aside from ours, of course), and both come from the Pac-12:
Utah v. Washington (Utah is a marginal bubble team almost surely behind us, so root for the Huskies)
Washington State v. Stanford Stanford is a good deal ahead of us, probably, but Wazzu is awful so root for Wazzu.
There'll be a lot more action tomorrow...hopefully, we care!
