Exactly. I can just see Dick Vitale's ugly mug saying, "Georgetown has 13 losses! Louisiana Tech won 25 games! What are they supposed to do?! It's a travesty?"

when we get in we will get to play real teams, not the Ohio U and FGCU's of the world. The 6 seeds are currently teams like Texas, Ohio State, Iowa & UCONN. We'll have to travel, but we could go somewhere in the dance. The NIT path is all 0n the road because we don't have our own arena, Mc Donough won't qualify, that's why we went to Waco.;

Just hang in there for a few more days, guys and gals. When - yeah I said WHEN - we win not only tomorrow, but the BET as well, we won't have to listen to these talking butts - I mean heads. Then they will suddenly decide to sing our praises.

Stop belly aching about ESPN people. The Big East is not dead. It is very much alive and we will all get to experience the self-satisfaction when "the Requiem" turns into "Hallelujahs" and they have to air it because it's what their audiences want. Their wiggle room to on the Big East is much tighter than posters are giving them credit for.

FWIW, Verizon schedule looks empty for the first round of NIT but then the circus is in town during second round games. Several years ago we got a top NIT seed, played the first game at Verizon (BU) and the second at McDonough (CS-Fullerton).

Well, if we do end up in the NIT, I'd enjoy getting a game against Maryland in McDonough.

And yet there is a difference between realist and pessimist. No matter where you live.

I think it's a very simple analysis.
I think if we win tomorrow, then we are definitely in the NCAAs. 9-9 gives the selection committee coverage to extend a bid. Our SOS and Top 50 wins would be significantly better than any other bubble team.
I think if we lose tomorrow, then we have to win the BET tourney to get into the dance. I don't think the selection committee can let in an 8-10 Big East team as an at-large, no matter what.

i have a hard time in seeing 6 teams from a-10 in the ncaa and just 3 from big east.but that is how lunardi has his projections right now.it seems he is about 100% on his picks every year . i just cant believe the big east does not deserve at least 4 maybee 5 teams in.there 3 or 4 in rpi as a conference.i think that this years ncaa field will be a totally different way we are used to seeing teams picked. if big east gets 3 teams that will be a slap in the face.the sec should get 2 if big east gets 3.lunardi has 7 big 12 and 7 from pac 12 and 6 from big 10 in. and 6 from a-10 in,if big east does not get 4-5 something is going on like pressure from other networks. i am seeing the brackets and it is like they are leaving xavier and providence out or last 4 in. i am worried if we beat nova will still may get shafted. we have a 13 strenth of schedule,that is one of the committies things they say play a tough schedule.hoyas are 3-3 vs top 25 abd 2-2 vs top 50. 5 top 50 wins. we beat nova how can we not be in ncaas? 6 top 50 wins. i see a screwing from ncaas coming because espn crap. go hoyas.

I don't necessarily disagree with this analysis, but I don't like the certitude with which you present it. There are are a host of scenarios that could lead us to getting in without winning tomorrow or winning the BET, depending on our performance in the BET, other teams' performance in their respective conference tournaments and the personal preferences/opinions of the members on the selection committee. Considering the uniqueness of the Hoyas season and the subjectivity/lack of transparency of the committee's decision making, no matter what you think of their chances, the scenario for the Hoyas making or not making the tournament is far from simple in my opinion.

Can anyone refresh my memory, but were we even on the bubble (or close to it) in the 08-09 season?

No lunardi is not near 100%. Palm I'd more accurate.

If - and we are going to win tomorrow - but if we lose tomorrow, 3 wins in the BET gets us to 11-11 overall. With one of those being Creighton that would be enough.

GU is a tourney team; GU is at least a sweet 16 team. GU should get to the BET final; it's up to them to bring it every game.
