Other threads have devolved into the "woe is us" systemic discussion that we'll have five months to discuss. For now, I'm focused on winning one of the next two (hard, but doable: we certainly were in both games the first time we played these teams), getting one in the BET to put us right on the middle of the bubble, and then playing a quarterfinal game to seal up a bid.
We have a home game, on senior night no less, with our tournament destiny still firmly in our control. There are worse places to be with two regular season games to play. Virtually every time we lost a "OK, our season is now over pending a miracle" game, we've gotten that miracle. No reason to stop now.

I am uncharacteristically sunny about this game, which is probably why I never felt like last night's game was that important. All you can ask for in March is a chance to continue playing, and we have one with these 2 games plus New York. It is just that our single elimination starts earlier than everyone else's. I am eager to see if Hayes sees some additional minutes based on what happened in MIlwaukee. It would be nice to have someone in there taking up space who won't foul every time the ball comes into the paint.

As a guy generally most interested in talking about the big picture and about how recent results have changed one's view of that picture, I am continually mystified by these comments about threads "devolving". I just don't find discussion that breaks down a game into the nitty-gritty to be particularly interesting, but it sounds like that's what you want. Anyway, as you can clearly see from my earlier post right after yours, we are of the same view regarding this next game. People are perfectly capable of having negative feelings about the big picture while at the same time appreciating the opportunity to watch this team fight for its life against Creighton. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Hopefully the fans will come out to thank the 5 seniors playing their last regular season home game. They deserve it.

I feel good about this game. Win or Lose I think it will be very competitive and fun game to watch. I expect the supreme effort we have seen all season from these guys and I really hope Markel can go out a winner in his last home game, he totally deserves that honor.

Bradley's play last night is encouraging for use against teams that have athletic big front lines. Creighton and Nova do not fall into that category. Bradley could still be useful, he and Moses. They could use the 10 fouls they have between them to get Nate and Hopkins to the second half with less than two fouls. They both would have four fouls for second half which means they could still play aggressive.

I'll be there - will you? I'll be there. 1st year in a long time that I'll have made every home game. Usually life gets in the way of one or two. Love Senior Day/Evening...it is always nice to give our seniors some special recognition. If our front court can play just halfway decently we will have a great chance to pull the upset. C'mon Mikael, we know you don't feel comfortable playing center but as Markel supposedly says: it is what it is. Give us Verizon Center faithful something to feel good about to close out the year.

Here is the Bubble watch on us. You really can't say it any better, especially that last part..
Georgetown [16-12 (7-9), RPI: 65, SOS: 26] Georgetown's loss at Marquette on Thursday night wasn't a killer, but it is a setback for a team on the underside of the bubble. The Hoyas still have the most impressive wins among their Big East counterparts, but the committee might look askance at Feb. 1's neutral-court win over Michigan State thanks to the Spartans' injury woes at that point. This is just a weird resume from top to bottom, and not in a good way. Creighton is in town on Tuesday, and boy, is that big.

The Marquette game encapsulated our season: A for effort, B for coaching, C for talent. Tough to see that translating into a win against Creighton, but if they have an off game and we rise to the occasion, it's possible.

All we have to do is win our last 2 games and at least one in the BET.
It can be done. That logic makes this game a must win.

Maybe, just maybe, adding Hayes and 5 fouls to the mix is the secret ingredient we need to run the table . As others have pointed out this is almost the same team that won the BE last year . Sure we miss Otto but this league is nowhere near as tough as last year. WE CAN DO IT!

We lost the POTY - but not only did we add Reggie, but theoretically we have 9 other scholarship player s who should all be better than they were last year

I can't help but wonder if the answer is what we saw Marquette do with Davonte Gardner. To protect him from fouls Buzz Williams kept taking him out whenever he could for defensive substitutions and back in for offensive ones. Perhaps we could do the same with Lubick and Hopkins in for offense and Hayes and Ayegba in for defense. This would give our two best offensive bigs more minutes to look for hooks and layups while avoiding fouls. Or possibly for the positioning and intangibles factor we could do Hopkins and Hayes on offense and Lubick and Ayegba on defense or even just rotate Hopkins, Hayes and Ayegba at Center and leave Lubick with Cameron at the 4 but with 5 extra fouls to dish out to low FT% shooting bigs.

X just beat Creighton, so we could see a fired up team on the court on Tuesday.

X just beat Creighton, so we could see a fired up team on the court on Tuesday. Or we could see a poor defensive team that is getting upset by a #6 seed in the first week of the tourney. And it's senior day. Just win it and make 'Nova the game for the tourney. Why not Hoyas?

All we have to do is win our last 2 games and at least one in the BET. Should I ballpark this scenario as "No whammies!" or #123fireballs? Asking for a friend's avatar.
