Hoping for big nights for Nate and Markel as they say farewell. Ditto for Caprio. Not certain whether this is considered senior night for Moses or Bowen. Still hoping to have one or both back next year.

I have good vibes for this game. Last home game plus 5 seniors equals tremendous effort. Will it be enough? I think so. No matter what I wish the seniors well. Markel stands out for his hard work over his 4 years here. Some players take their opportunity more seriously than others. I can't remember the last time GU had 5 seniors. Wow. I hope for the sake of the program that Moses and AB don't come back. It's time for new players to be given their chance to succeed.

I can't help but wonder if the answer is what we saw Marquette do with Davonte Gardner. To protect him from fouls Buzz Williams kept taking him out whenever he could for defensive substitutions and back in for offensive ones. Perhaps we could do the same with Lubick and Hopkins in for offense and Hayes and Ayegba in for defense. This would give our two best offensive bigs more minutes to look for hooks and layups while avoiding fouls. Or possibly for the positioning and intangibles factor we could do Hopkins and Hayes on offense and Lubick and Ayegba on defense or even just rotate Hopkins, Hayes and Ayegba at Center and leave Lubick with Cameron at the 4 but with 5 extra fouls to dish out to low FT% shooting bigs. I think this pretty much sums up our season w/r/t the frontcourt that we are discussing Nate and Mikael as the offensive end of an offense/defense front court rotation.

Wow. I hope for the sake of the program that Moses and AB don't come back. It's time for new players to be given their chance to succeed. Wow. Really? And by the way you can argue Bowen just got his own "chance to succeed" this year thanks to Whittington's situation. He's done relatively well with that chance and if I were the coaches I would want him back. Bring back Moses too. Not like GU is going to have an excess of bigs next season.

Agree with the saving their fouls for later strategy with Nate, Hopkins, and Jabril. Saving Gardner til the end was a pretty smart strategy by Buzz who knew full well that by the end of that game GTown was going to likely be in a decent amount of foul trouble. Frankly, I don't understand why JT3 hasn't tried to control the fouling situation more with this squad since Nate, Hopkins, and Jabril clearly have trouble controlling themselves. I think Magoo uses a similar strategy where he would start a guy like Coleman (back when he was healthy) for no apparent reason other than (I think) he was avoiding early foul trouble on guys like Christmas, Baye, or Grant (those 3 probably deserved the honor of being a starter over Coleman). I know its Senior Day and it would be very un-JT3 like to not start a guy like Nate, but screw that, we need to win and I think if we went small (start Bowen or even Hayes/Caprio) and did some aggressive 3/4 trapping for the first 4-5 minutes it would give the this team some insurance that Nate, Hopkins, and Jabril will be around during crunch time. As for Moses, that guy should not even see the floor in the first half considering he is the definition of a fouling machine.

Agree that the team would be well-served to have both back. Of course, both are on schedule to graduate and they could pack up and go anywhere with immediate eligibility. People are very excited by the incoming freshmen, but it has been a very long time since the Hoyas had more than one impact freshman. These kids will take time to develop and having one or two guys on the team who remained committed and dedicated for four years with a lot of bumps in the road would not be a bad thing.

It's always extra special in these days to celebrate a senior for their accomplishments on and especially off the court. It's tough to mix in the demands of D1 sports and academics. Having said that, it's time to commence a new phase in their lives that doesn't include college sports. Moving on not hanging on is the example a program should strive for.

I'll take any silver lining at this point, but if we beat Creighton, Nova would clinch the BE title on Thursday by beating Xavier. They also have to play Thursday night in a tough environment, and have a quick turnaround before we play them on Saturday. The schedule certainly sets up for us as much as it could. Just need to take care of business tomorrow.

The only way that Moses should come back is if Josh will not be back, and we cannot find another serviceable big from somewhere. Although I have not thought that Bradley was ready to contribute this season, his minutes the other night were encouraging, and at the very least suggest that with another off-season of work, he should absolutely be able to give us more than Moses has. Moses has significantly regressed over the last 5-6 games, and at this point is mostly a big negative. Maybe it is mostly because of the knee, but at this point that is not going to get significantly better. He has battled as best he could, but he really gives us next to nothing except a big body; if we have Hop, Hayes and Josh or some other big, we will have enough to figure it out, so if there is ANY alternative, let's wish him well and move on.

Agreed. Moses needs to go. He's regressing at an alarming rate and is generally hurting the team when he's on the floor. I would take AB back tho

I'm not sure 2008 should be considered a very long time, unless you don't consider Chris Wright to have had an impact before he got hurt. But we've also not had a recruiting class close to this one in a very long time, so assuming that more than one of them won't have an impact simply because "it has been a very long time since the Hoyas had more than one impact freshman" seems a bit silly. Anyone who has followed these kids closely would say that there's a good chance that 3 of the 4 will have impactful seasons. I think AB has earned a 5th season this year. Moses needs to be shown the door. Not only is he not getting better, he's actually getting worse.

Agree. Moses for whatever reason has regressed. But I fear relying on Smith next year. Even if he stays eligible he is just a huge defensive liability. I don't see him as anything more than a role player against smaller, less athletic teams.

GU has a chance of beating Creighton which has shown it is vulnerable on the road (not at home). On the other hand we have little chance of upsetting Villanova away. GU is terrible away (2-6) as the St Johns and Seton Hall games demonstrated. 17-13 is probably the best we can do prior to BE tournament. Good chance to win the first round game but then its either Creighton or Villanova again. 18-14. NIT could be fun but not likely a building block for next year with the drastic change in personnel.

The sole purpose of the next two games should be to try some different things that might result in winning the Big East tournament, which is the only thing that could salvage this season. These two games themselves are meaningless. Whether it means different lineups, different players, different styles of play or whatever, the regular season is over and was a failure. So consider the next two games as exhibitions for the postseason. The worst thing that could happen is that we do nothing different than we have done all season and somehow catch Creighton and/or Nova on bad nights and have some success against them, then go into the BE tourney and lose the way we have lost all year. It's the old expression, "the definition of stupidity is trying to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

It's the old expression, "the definition of stupidity is trying to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." I don't really understand this sentiment. These two games are anything but meaningless. Win both and we are virtually assured an NCAA Tournament spot regardless of what happens in the BET. That is a highly unlikely outcome, of course, but we ought to try like all heck to do it. If we catch Creighton and/or Nova on bad nights, all the better! Shoot, if we win even one of the two, some result short of winning the BET would get us a bid. And, in any event, it's a lot easier to beat these two teams now than it will be to beat them and two other teams on four straight nights. So, try different styles, lineups, etc. if those are designed to win these games; I'm fine with that. But throwing in the towel on either one or both? That wouldn't make any sense.

Yeah a lot of teams make drastic changes with 2 games left in the conference season. I am sure that the staff and the team have given up on the next 2 games, so I fully expect Hayes and Domingo to start. Because we will win the BET not by ironing out the problems we have, but by changing our style, rotations, etc.
