The rest of this season is about Hopkins in large part. Hope he can take the step Sims made towards the end of his time. I like the way he has been playing lately, but he really needs to be able to stay on the floor. I agree with the idea is going Hop-Moses at 4-5 but did I mention that they both really to be able to stay on the floor?

This will be my first time watching Butler this season so I wouldn't know if what you're thinking is an option. One thing is for sure: Bowen cannot outman anyone with his dribbling.

Actually, the best chance this team has is to start running the Princeton offense. We have tried dribble-drive but that strategy is turnover prone. We don't have good ball movement or off the ball movement because the non-guards either play timidly or out if control. Some big has to receive and pass the ball without stopping the flow or turning the ball over. The player who has to step up is Nate Lubick. He is the only player other than Starks who knows how to make a good pass and also when to make a pass. He can't be a minimal usage player any longer. He can be a high post/ elbow distributor and allow Starks and DSR to move more off the ball. I agree with this. It's not as if we abandoned it, but i think we have to be even more methodical in it. We just have to get creative when our only scoring options are two guards. Teams aren't stupid. They are clearly going to come up high and guard Starks and DSR and clog the lanes. The big men have to control the flow in the high post. And guys like Bowen and Jabril need to make hard cuts.

Our "offense" should be called "threes and layups" since that's really the only ways we score or try to score. A mid-range jumper can only be taken in the first or last five seconds of the shot clock by Hopkins or by DSR (who is the only player on the team who hasn't lost/never developed this skill).
So if that's our thing, I'd like to see it be our thing. Play Cameron to add a shooter and tell him to actually shoot. Continue pressing and trapping. And if we need a bucket, DSR gets the call. We don't really have a post offense now so cause a little chaos on D and be opportunistic on O.

With Jabril out indefinitely, the team desperately needs Reggie Cameron to turn it loose from deep and others to step up.

Not sure this belongs in this thread but as the current season circles the bowl it really hits home again how disappointing all our Tourney meltdowns have been. Simply put, it's really hard to get yourselves in position for a top 3 seed in the NCCAs - it's not a situation a program like ours can take for granted. And the fact that we have blown it to an embarrassing degree the last couple times we've been in that position really stings during a season when it appears any sort of NCAA tourney berth might be out of the question.

Amen. Haven't given up on the season yet but still....amen! Here's what I want to see tonight: aggression. I can handle a loss as long as the team is trying to score and trying to take open looks when opportunities present themselves. At least try to look like a D1 basketball team rather than an eyesore. And for the person above who wrote for the Hoyas to get back to playing the princeton because the dribble-drive game hasn't worked I have to wonder if we are watching the same games. This team never gave up its Princeton style of play this season. And that Princeton offense leads to as many turnovers as the unsuccessful drives because the Princeton often results in over passing that turns into turnovers or even worse shots, and it has led to a lot of intercepted passes when the Hoyas try to force the backdoor cuts.

How'd Jabril break his jaw? By trying to play some football against one of Providence's players--one of their bigger players if I recall correctly.

The offense is far more than over passing and backdoor cuts, though if that is what you think then I can see why you don't understand why this team isn't actually running III's normal offense. The team has completely abandoned almost all the principal's of the Princeton offense. There is very little ball movement, very little off the ball movement, and few off the ball screens, and it's seemingly by design. We are essentially play a 2-man pick and pop game this season and when it doesn't work on one side we just try it on the other. That is not remotely close to any offense we've ran under III and now we are in trouble because our one low post threat is probably gone for the season. III put all his eggs in one basketball and that basket fell apart.

It was a bonehead play by Jabril.....love the kid, but he just lost his mind on the play and now is paying for it. The silver lining with all this is that Cameron and Domingo will finally get significant minutes.
