In regards to Butler...they were destroyed by Creighton tonight. Seems like they wont be as strong as many of us thought going into BE play, but they still have time to turn it around.

So what happens when we play against Nova or Marquette? Could you imagine Moses and Cameron trying to defend Otule/Gardner or Pinkston/Ochefu? We would get eaten alive. This argument was flawed to begin with because Nate only played 16 minutes last night (Daytona got what he wanted and maybe didn't even realize it but still felt the need to throw Nate under the bus). And that only semi-worked because Butler is more of a finesse team without really big bangers inside. I mean Cameron couldn't even box out the shooter. Furthermore, Nate and DSR are starting to play with some great chemistry on offense. Haven't seen Cameron bust a nice give and go like we saw at the beginning of the game. Nate's hustle plays, passing, and unselfish brand of basketball that rewards this offense with points regularly is being way overlooked in Daytona's argument. I like Cameron's form but it's not like he's shooting the lights out to merit such an argument. When Gtown plays a less finesse team then Gtown would need to put out a less finesse lineup. That's all. Still the problem has been that the Hoyas need more than hustle plays, passing and unselfish brand of basketball from Nate. The Hoyas need another scoring option. They needed that even when Smith was starting at center. It is not throwing Nate under the bus to point out that he rarely looks to score and when he does generate points it comes almost exclusively within the offense (he cuts to the hoop for a basket). After all this time you wish he could do more in terms with helping with the scoring load, but I and others aren't forgetting all the positives he does contribute. Unfortunately the Hoyas are offensively-challenged as it is and at times need guys who can scare defenses enough and thereby spread the floor. So here's my question: why is it wrong to throw guys under the bus if they can't generate enough points but it is okay to attack the abilities of guys who don't measure up on defense? And why do we recognize that playing as a team can help guys like Nate on offense who aren't all that great at getting buckets but fail to acknowledge that team play on defense can help out dudes like Reggie who may be struggling on that front one-on-one? The bus throwing I was referring to was to cut Nate's minutes in half (pretty severe and detrimental against bigger teams). To review: I am against that because we don't have anyone better. Reggie's offense hasn't been enough to tip the Off/Def scales in his favor. For example, tonight we are going to need Nate's Defense against Xavier (and hopefully 6+ points) a lot more than we are going to need Reggie's slight chance of scoring more than Nate's avg ppg of 6. The most Reggie has ever scored to date is 9pts. If he can put up double digits (consistently) then the Reggie playing the 4 instead of Nate argument starts to hold water.
