Cole Darling 6'8 Forward is out with an injury Taveres Sledge is suspended due to some off court troubles Reggie Arceneaux is out as well. Matt Vest is just coming back from Injury but played in their first game Miles Dixon also played but was originally not supposed to play after having off season shoulder surgery

I'm puzzled by the belief that Nate and Josh together can't rebound their positions based on one sloppy game. And I'm downright baffled by the suggestion that the solution is to play Mikael Hopkins more - he's an abysmal defensive rebounder. Rebounding is much more about positioning than jumping ability. The Oregon game also featured a LOT of long rebounds off wild shots, which are more likely to result in an offensive board.
Anyway, it's a team effort. I don't think Nate or Josh are especially outstanding on the defensive boards, but they're both fine. Moses is probably the only front court guy who excels in that role.

Nate grabbed 6 defensive boards against oregon. There were complaints about his rebounding? Why? Hopkins did a much better job rebounding against oregon than he did last year, but only 2 of them were on the defensive end the rest of his 6 rebounds were on the offensive glass.

wrightstate.proboards.com/board/1Here's Wright State's proboards site. Sounds like the D3 Mt. St. Joesph team they played plays a princeton offense style to get ready for us.

I don't think it's just the boards; Hop is much more mobile on defense, which is a problem for both Joshua and Nate, makes it hard to have them both in against a team with bigs that can move.

Take care of their two starting forwards, rebound better, defend better and we should win going away. Josh will have his 20+ pts. Pls keep 10 players with at least 5 minutes!

I'm confused why we can't be an elite defensive team when we were an elite defensive team a year ago with mostly the same players. Who says we cant or wont be able to be? We played a Pac-12 team and sent them to the line 40 times. I dont think that will happen again

JT III must use these types of games to learn more about his players and the various combinatiopns that can be put on the floor. I hated the result against Oregon and the game was ugly to watch, but I was really happy to see so many players get an opportunity to play meaningful minutes against a qualtiy opponent. Was it just foul trouble? Time will tell, but it is important to at least attempt to develop this team now.
As for Nate, the problem remains that he offers heart and hustle and a significant amount of on court intelligence, but he reamins a liability on offense. With Hopkins in the game, opponents cannot simply collapse around Smith. Moreover, they cannot ignore guarding the interior when Smith is out and Moses is playing. There will be at least one offensive threat. Not saying that Hopkins is a finished product by any means, but he is a willing threat in the offense--something that Nate is reluctant to do.

JT III must use these types of games to learn more about his players and the various combinatiopns that can be put on the floor. Except after nine years, it's clear he does not. The staff has already determined the run rate and that's how they will play....and that's what gets this team into trouble in March. The starters/contributors (Starks, DSR, Trawick, Lubick/Hopkins, Smith) will always get their minutes, barring fouls. The next tier of Bowen and Ayegba get 6-10 solid minutes but not much else. Domingo, Cameron, and Caprio will get spot time unless it's s 30 pt blowout, while Hayes and Allen get one minute at the end for every 8-10 points the lead is. It's unlikely to see Hayes and Domingo getting the run time they really need because the staff makes its decisions in-practice and not in-game.

If we can't beat them at home without Cole Darling and Arcenaux, this will be a very bad season.

We went 10 deep against a top 20 team. Let's wait and see before we start to excoriate Coach. I have not seen anything from hayes or Domingo to suggest they deserve more time, but let's remember they are sophs, we will se how they have improved. Remember, you get better and earn PT in practice, not in games. And Boeheim has done pretty well with 7 or 8 guys most years.

Anybody know how one might watch this streaming on iphone in an airport? Thanks. Your best bet is the Fox Sports GO app. If you have a compatible cable provider, that should work.

Appreciate the info but this doesn't work as a DirecTV subscriber. Guhoyas.com seems to have a streaming service - anyone know if it is reliable (for an iPhone)? There is always the radio via internet but I want to see the images of Joshua bringing down one of the Verizon Center backboards!

My understanding is that the GUHoyas.com streaming does not carry basketball games when they are otherwise on national television. I don't recall a feed being available in the past when the games are on TV - usually, they are only available for the rare untelevised games.

Directv is the worst with that stuff. That's the exact reason I bought a Vulkano Blast a couple of years ago.
