Markel Starks is the best guard on the team, not DSR..Why?? Cause Markel Starks is the only guard who could consistently get to the rim...is that idea being questioned?? Also as far as Jerrelle Benimon and Nate Lubick, who is the better Power Forward right now?? Who plays the better defense? Who is the better offensive threat? It doesn't matter. If Benimon stayed at Georgetown, he would have graduated last year and his eligibility would have expired, so Lubick would have been our man regardless.

Apologies, my language was not precise - that's what I meant. I should have been more precise in my language. I used "last year" to mean the 2012-2013 basketball season because the basketball season is over, but obviously the academic year is not over, and Benimon would not have graduated yet (but would have soon). I guess I just don't see the fascination with Benimon. He transferred, if he stayed he likely would have contributed to the team, but I highly doubt it would have made a big difference in performance, and Benimon's performance next year is really meaningless because he wouldn't have been playing on Georgetown next year anyway, and he wouldn't have had a fifth year to develop further.

Agree with your general point completely.

I agree with your point on the Benimon fascination. In many ways out of necessity, Jerelle Benimon got more of an opportunity when he was with the Hoyas than many of the players to join since that time. He played alot, contributed some and chose to leave. Happy for him and his success at Towson, but do not feel sorry that he did not enjoy the offense. I am much more inclined to feel for the kids like Bowen and Moses who have struggled to earn playing time and overcome injuries.

He would have enjoyed the offense more if he shot better.

The other important thing is that there are always going to be players that simply will not mesh with a team or a coach, and they decide to move on for whatever reason (in our case, I think it usually has more to do with playing time, rather than the offensive system). That's natural, it happens all over, and there's nothing wrong with it.
For Benimon, don't forget that his transfer was probably also caused by playing time concerns, among other things. In 2010-2011, Lubick was already being played over Benimon in many situations, and 2011-2012 saw the addition of several players who were well situated to take Benimon's playing time (Whittington, Porter, Hopkins). Under those conditions, it's not surprising that Benimon left, especially if he wanted to start somewhere.
If somebody doesn't like the system, and they move on, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I suppose the system could hurt on the recruiting trail sometimes, but it hasn't prevented John Thompson III from producing several very good NBA players.

Why do reporters continue to indicate that Tyler Adams status is still uncertain? Have I mistakenly assumed that Adams is done with basketball? Would love to be wrong about this.

Well, to split hairs, while things have been said in public, I don't think there has ever been a press statement or report. If we are kicking the tires on Tarik Black, I think that should sum it up.

There has never been a public announcement on Tyler Adams, which is why I think many people in the press assume it's uncertain. That said, for Josh Smith to have received a scholarship last January, Adams' scholarship must not have counted toward the 13, otherwise there would have been no room for Smith. On that basis, I think it's safe to say Adams won't be playing.

When did Rutgers become a training ground for Florida? First Rosario, now Carter.

You get older, you move to Florida. I think it's deeply embedded in Jersey culture.

Surprised he was able to latch on to such a good program. Best of luck to him. He stayed classy with his remarks on his departure.

Good for Brandon! Agree that he was very classy in his departure comments. The extra year will help. Wishing him the best.
