Since Syracuse is absolutely wedded to the Zone, do you think that they are practicing a box and one with the extra man on Otto??? No. Boeheim does not vary his defense. He will just stress their need to find Otto at all times.

Really, all we need is an NBA Center. And that's it and that's the only thing we need... We don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game, the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all we need. And this remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote control, and that's all we need. And these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all we need. Shawn Bradley = NBA center = ashtray

Agree, there's no way Magoo doesn't do everything he can to get his players to prevent Otto from embarrassing them again.
DSR and Markel are going to need to hit their shots and avoid silly, costly turnovers. You know cuse is going to crowd the passing lanes this time. Moses and Mikael are going to have to shine the glass like madmen. Nate just needs to be himself (on redbull). Jabril will need to slash to the basket to collapse the zone, and he'll need to pull down boards and make smart decisions with the ball.

If you read the whole post you'd understand that my point was that our major weakness is lack of a low post game and it has been a major weakness of ours since Hibbert left. That's all. Too many hoya fans find lots of other faults with this team. But this is a very good team. I won't waste time finding fault with Starks or Trawick or DSR or Lubick. They are all exceptional players. The only flaw is lack of a good big man. Put a Hibbert quality player on this team and they are national championship contenders. Put that calibre player on other teams, and even other hoya teams, and they are not.

If you put a senior Roy Hibbert on basically any team in the top 25, they are a national championship contender IMO. He was a MONSTER by the time his senior year came around.
Anyway, we have the team that we have, and it's a pretty good team so let's just see what happens.

I think everyone has known all year that we do not have a low post threat. That is what makes this team's success so impressive. No one ever has to double team the low post, which makes it easy for teams to extend their defense on our three point shooters. That is why we have to rely so much on beating defenders off the dribble and on Otto getting the ball where he has a mismatch.
The impressive thing about Hopkins, Lubick, and Ayegba is that they have defended the post better than expected. Pinkston and Pitt's bigs outplayed them, but our bigs more than held their own against Syracuse, UConn, Cincinnati, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Marquette 2.

Only the Hoyas, Lousiville, and Marquette can win the conference. All three have one game remaining and have secured a double bye.
Here’s the scenarios. Percentages based on KenPom as of 3/7.
Games: Georgetown v. Syracuse Sat. @ noon (Georgetown 53% kenpom) Lousiville v. Notre Dame Sat @ 4pm (Louisville 89% kenpom) Marquette at St. John’s @ 2pm (Marquette 70% kenpom)
In order of likeliest to least likely:
1) 33% all 3 teams win: Hoyas #1 seed by virtue of 2-1 record in 3-team miniconference.
2) 29.3% Louisville and Marquette win, Georgetown loses: Louisville #1 seed, Hoyas #3 seed.
3) 14.2% Louisville wins, Marquette loses, Georgetown wins: Hoyas #1 seed by virtue of head-to-head win over Louisville.
4) 12.6% Louisville wins, Marquette and Georgetown lose: Louisville #1 seed, Hoyas #2 seed by virtue of better record vs. Louisville.
5) 4% Louisville loses, Marquette and Georgetown win: Hoyas #1 seed by virtue of record vs. Louisville.
6) 3.6% Louisville loses, Marquette wins, Georgetown loses: Marquette #1 seed., Hoyas #2 seed.
7) 1.8% Louisville and Marquette lose, Georgetown wins: Hoyas #1 seed and sole conference champion.
8) 1.6% All 3 teams lose: Hoyas #1 seed by virtue of 2-1 record in 3-team miniconference.
Total % chance Hoyas get each seed: #1: 54.6% #2: 16.2 % #3: 29.3%

we need our bigs to have career afternoons, Nate is probably the one with the best chance and Hopkins needs to play 30 minutes and stay off the bench.

I know this question has been asked before but I was wondering if anybody can point me to some more info, what is going on with Game Day being present? From what I understand the doors will be opening early (either 9:30 or 10), are a lot of people planning on going? I am hoping the concessions (read beer) stands will be open. It is going to be a bit rough mobilizing in the AM and convincing my wife and friends to get to the arena 2 hours before the game but I think this could be a pretty fun experience. I can get brunch anytime but being able to watch Bilas et. al live does not occur often.

How many bench players should we use on Saturday? Maybe we can sneak Josh Smith onto the court and extend the bench to 11

A win could reap a recruiting coup.

Anybody else think that with more playing time Bowen could be a Patrick Ewing Jr. - type off the bench spark for this team? I know he's not as big but he's amazingly athletic. Starks quoted as saying Bowen does amazing things in practice.

Not similar players. Ewing Jr.'s main role was that he could defend three positions.
Bowen doesn't get more minutes because he is not a good defender.

Annoying that he hasn't gotten better enough on that end if his offense really demands more minutes.
