I believe the term 'No Homo' was made popular by rappers as a way to distance themselves from homosexuality!! It was started by people who have an ignorant mindset and Roy Hibbert should've been smart enough to realize he shouldn't use such a term in a somewhat civilized setting like an NBA post game press conference. I've got to give him credit for quickly realizing the error of his ways and apologizing.

The thing that bothered me was how unprofessional both of Roy's comments were. Do I think he's a classic homophobe and holds malice toward gays? No. Do I think he is right to some degree that, if more media watched him play, he might have moved up a few notches on the DPOY totem pole? Probably so, if they watched the second half of the season. But making both remarks on the same stage after the biggest game of your career is not something a savvy Georgetown grad should do. It should be about the team, not who is DPOY - he should be focused on trying to win a championship, not defending his individual glory. And everybody knows that in 2013, especially just after Collins came out, you don't use certain language. I like Roy - a lot - and think he's better than that on both counts. I wish he had proved it in the moment instead of committing not just one but two pretty obvious screw-ups. Next time he's in front of a microphone he needs to apologize (i.e., not just issue a written PR statement). He's a likeable guy and will be forgiven. But I'll be disappointed if he doesn't man up. As for Feinstein, the guy has become such a caricature of himself that it's unbelievable. JT3 is very media-friendly, except when it comes to injuries. This

The meaning of words changes over time. "No Homo" literally means "not the genus of great apes that includes humans", but we know that is not how Cam'ron used it when he named a song "Silky (No Homo)". And now "no homo" doesnt mean what Cam'ron meant.
Its ridiculous to think that Roy was actually worried about people thinking he was gay in the context of what he said. Its just crazy. It was a verbal slip, nothing more.
I wonder if anyone would have even noticed if Roy hadnt reached out to Collins. Or if Roy hadnt gone in on writers just before it.

LeBron got the match up again to end the 1st, almost identical attempt to get to the rim and still straight up ROY with the stuff!

Am a big Roy Hibbert fan, but his behavior at the end of the game was not exemplary. I don't know if you noticed, butat the end of the game he left the court and was the only Pacer who didn't shake hands with the heat players.

I don't know if you noticed, butat the end of the game he left the court and was the only Pacer who didn't shake hands with the heat players. He was asked about it in the post-game and responded that he thought it was the Heat's moment and didn't want to interfere. Now even if you take him at his word it is still a display, unintentional or not, of unsportsmanlike conduct. It would be bad enough if that was all he had done negatively the last couple of days but of course coming off the heels of his now infamous post-game comments, it paints a bit of an unflattering picture. Of course LeBron had a famous walking-oof-without-shaking-hands moment before so I'm sure he understands.

Probably a good thing that his season is over. Time to step back, calm down a little bit, and regroup. No one will remember any of this stuff when he makes the All Star team again next year. All they'll remember is the Melo block and an overall very good playoff series against the Heat.

Remember when we said 'Get mean Roy!' 6 years ago? Now we just want him to play nice.

I like mean Roy. He has my support. Remember the opponents kneed him in the groin and pushed him to the floor.
Also, I understand that David West didn't shake hands with Heat players either.

Shout out to Darryl Prue for a great job with Hibbert's progress. Darryl stated that he plan to work more with Monroe this summer.

I have no problem with Roy being "mean." I also believe that Roy is a really good guy. What he needs to learn is to say less when interviewed. He seemed to really enjoy being interviewed and stuck his foot into his mouth several times because he would speak before he thought.
I suspect that he feels really bad about this and has learned an important lesson.

Here's a punishment that fits the crime for things someone should not have said... What were his comments? Because I'm only seeing reference to one—a joking use of the phrase "damn Catholics." Is that REALLY the line for offensiveness now? Oh there were more - I started a new thread here in order not to drift Roy's thread too far off course.Strummer's next post moved to the new Gee thread
