I will be at the game with friends and my father, a former naval aviator.
How does the game work logistically? Is it outside on the deck or in a hangar? If it is outside, is the court covered or is there a possibility of a rainout? Could wind be a factor?

Someone is clearly not familiar with the new phenomenon of basketball games on top on naval ships.

Ok instead of being a smart ass why dont you help him out?
The game will be outside on the deck and I'm sure they will have the necessary weather precautions available. And yes, wind can be a factor.

Yes wind and the outdoor venue will most certainly have an impact on the game. It'll most certainly affect shooting. Hard to tell how much since the only two teams who have played a game like this were not big three point shooting teams in the first place. It's sure to affect us and florida though. I think overall though it gives us the advantage since Florida was much more dependent on the three pointer than we were. Florida was the 5th most dependent on the three pointer in the nation. 45% of all their field goals were threes. Whereas were were only at 31%. 38% of florida's points came from the three 7th highest in the nation. While it was only 24% of our offense. 246th.

Game will move indoors to Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena (I think that's the name) in the event of inclement weather on game day, per an article in jax paper that was linked on front page here in late September. But bring your goretex anyway, HoyaChris -- other events we've planned that day can't be moved indoors!

Any word on Georgetown events or get togethers? I've been down there for a lot of Florida Georgia games but don't know how pre-game would work since the game is on the base (I assume). Jax has some good spots to party and would much rather meet up with Hoyas somewhere at the landing or Jax Beach than be surrounded by Gators or locals at a random bar.

Sorry to double post, but I would also love to know of any events on Thursday too. Even if it is a tailgate spot in the parking lot I'm down. I would like to pre-game hard as I will need something to get through the game that night. The only thing I have going for me is to start Luck on my fantasy team to have something to cheer for that night. That and the over under on when I get into a verbal altercation with an incoherent Jaguars fan for heckling me for wearing Georgetown gear. Maybe I should wear a Jets Tebow jersey.

From what I understand, an event is being planned now. There are still a few variables/procedures that need to be determined regarding security measures of getting onto the ship and how early we need to arrive, etc. Pregame festivites are therefore in a holding pattern.
