... I was assuming you ran over to seaweed's house and smacked him around before he could finish his thought. ;D My opinion is that it's a little exorbitant to force people to buy tickets to an NFL game in order to see this (assuming you can consider the Jaguars and Colts to be an NFL game). Not to mention tickets to a concert that will almost certainly feature some crappy artist that only hifigator likes. On the surface, the idea of having costs built into the ticket package to allow service members to attend sounds great. But let's be honest. This is a ploy and nothing more. Service members can easily (and probably should be) allowed to attend for free if they want to get all patriotic on us. On the other hand, the promoters can do whatever the hell they want. It's their event. Georgetown's acceptance to participate in their event doesn't mean Georgetown can dictate terms (even if the school wanted to). Also, whether or not anyone actually wants to go to the other events (NFL game, concert), you can't really deny that they are giving you something more for the cost of the ticket. Me? I'm saving my money either to go see The Cure in South America or Depeche Mode in London in 2013.

I don't know Boz, I see that New Order's North American tour only has dates through October 23 - seems to me they could extend to November in Jacksonville. Seems highly likely, in fact.

No aircraft carrier SMH sucks! Adrenaline just went kapoop! Seriously? What difference does it make? If the game was on a carrier, the tickets would probably be $2,000 each.

if you can fly a plane off it then i don't care what they call it, the thing is an aircraft carrier. i think she looks great and am checking with a navy buddy to see what kind of rep she has. in the meantime, not too keen on this part of her bio:
On 2 June 2008 The Guardian reported that "The US has admitted that the Bataan and Peleliu were used as prison ships between December 2001 and January 2002". The article went on to state: "President George Bush admitted in September 2006 that the CIA operated a secret network of 'black sites' in which terrorist suspects were held and subjected to what he called 'enhanced interrogation techniques', a term described by the Council of Europe as 'essentially a euphemism for some kind of torture'."
It is also known that John Walker Lindh, the "American Taliban", was escorted back to the United States aboard Bataan.

The wasp class is the Marine Corp version of the Navy's aircraft carriers. Not only do they launch VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) Jets, all classes of helicopters (attack and support) but also an entire arsenal of sea vehicles, including multiple hovercraft and various other boats. It is a unique ship and one of the more versatile in the US military. I'm excited to see the Hoyas play on the deck (or the main hold may be big enough) of this modern piece of war. It still looks like a traditional aircraft carrier anyways: www.military-today.com/navy/wasp_class_images.htm

Because I embarked on two aircraft carriers fool USS Saratoga and USS Dwight D. Eisenshower (6th Fleet) My first orders were on an Amphious Assault ship but I went to Yeoman A School and graduated high, and got new orders to an Air AntiSubmarine Squadron that embarked on two carriers one for work ups and other for the Mediterranean Cruise...I have my reasons...also was excited last season when UNC/MState played on one really had me excited then, and when I found out we were playing on an aircraft I was very very excited...I really didn't have to explain but to folks such as you I did...and your ticket probably would be $2,000 each, not my ticket...

Ahhh. Excellent to see this thread rise (descend?) to Blue & Gray level of back & forth discourse.
Makes me feel all warm & cuddly.
They could be playing the game on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s helicarrier for all I care. I still wouldn't be able to afford a ticket.
;D

Now that China has an "aircraft carrier," can we set up another date with the Bayi Rockets?

Just wanted to give a quick update since I just called the Jacksonville city office for ticket info. Tickets are still available, but only through the same $1,000 package for 2 tickets. No word on how good the Jacksonville seats are (I was thinking of selling those to offset costs). There should be only 3,500 people at the Georgetown-Florida game, so it will be pretty intimate.
How many people on this board are planning to go? Any chance those going will get to meet the team?

Plan on being there! Trust that the Hoya Hoop Club will reserve a hospitality suite for G'Town fans.
