Great interview! He'll be mismatch. If he works hard like he says, watch out! Love this kid... Btw, great, classic form on his jumper... If he gets in shape -- which it sounds like he knows he needs to do -- he's gonna be one of the top players in the league eventually. He's got all the skills....

Brewster improved to 21-1 on the season (6-1 in NEPSAC Class AAA play) with a convincing 96-79 win over visiting South Kent School. Brewster jumped out to a 47-30 lead at the half behind tough, focused team defense. In what's become a trend, the team lost the intensity on the defensive end and allowed the Cardinals to cut the lead to 5 points in the 2nd half before going on another spurt for the final margin. Brewster was led by David Crisp (Lakewood, WA) with 22 points, while Donovan Mitchell (Greenwich, CT) added 20 points off the bench. Point guard Jalen Adams (Roxbury, MA) added 18 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals, while Marcus Derrickson (Landover, MD) and Justin Simon (Temecula, CA) each contributed 13 points. Senior co-captain Jarred Reuter had a team-high 11 rebounds in the contest. Brewster's four high major point / combo-guards (Adams, Crisp, Mitchell, and Simon) combined for an astonishing 16 turnovers in the game. Brewster will host a very strong St. Thomas More team on Tuesday at 4pm.

I know people have written about Derrickson's conditioning before, but he looks to be in pretty good shape here. There is obviously always room for improvement, but it doesn't seem to be anything that will prevent him from being a contributor. Do people who have seen him recently agree?

It's been said before, but what's most impressive me to me is that he's not getting lost amidst all the other talent on the team. Their coach must be pretty good to keep all that balanced.

I'd love to hear what the Brewster coach has to say about Marcus' game. I remember before DSR came to GU, the Oak Hill coach raved about him and really detailed some nice attributes that you wouldn't see in the box score.
