I like Bo Ryan as a coach. I think he is one of the best around. But he has to understand that he does not OWN this kid. He isn't your property. I suspect that something has trnspired behind closed doors that we are uncertain of. Maybe the kid was recruited behind his back and he knows it. And both sides are being petty about it. How is the kid being petty about it? Isn't this exactly like the situation at St. Joe's this year? Coaches feel slighted by a kid they could use going somewhere else and can take it out on the kid, meanwhile coaches have the right to pull a kid's scholarship at any time for any reason. www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/02/uab_set_to_honor_todd_obrien_f.html

Roscoe Smith is transferring from Uconn. Now that's pretty interesting - assume he would be immediately available a la Oriaki? He'd fit pretty nicely into Hollis Thompson's spot. Although not sure if that would be a possibility to transfer in conference and I would guess JT III wouldn't be interested given Roscoe's initial recruitment. EDIT: Based on CT newspaper article, looks like he'd have to sit out a year. Which in my view makes him much less attractive as a transfer candidate. Pretty shocking he'd leave as cupboard is almost completely bare in UCONN's frontcourt and he was staring at 30+ mpg next season.

Roscoe is not coming to Georgetown, would have to sit out 2 years if he transfers to a team in the Big East.

Why would GU want him now anyway?

On the big east transfer rule, do we even know if that still applies since uconn is banned from the tourney? On whether we'd want him, it's arguable. Uconn did not use him well so it's hard to judge, but he didn't look good very often either.

Roscoe Smith would be the absolute last person I would want on this team....Not a good player, an even worse basketball IQ, and was pretty disrespectful to the system when he initially turned us down and chose UConn...He's not a high-major division I talent...He should go to hofstra or somewhere like that

Man we dodged a bullet with him not coming here. I really don't think we get Otto if we had Roscoe on the roster.

Honestly, his brawl comments aside - basketball wise that would be a perfect fit for next season's team.
He is tough, defends, can handle the ball, shoot and is a true combo guard that could play PG in this system.
If Chris Mack wants to help the kid and find him a good landing place - Hunter was on staff with him for 3 years at Xavier, so here's to hoping.

I would only support this if we don;t land devonta. Honestly, I have almost all the faith in the world in Markel to step up this year, but another high major starter can't be turned down. I'm betting he goes pro.

Rumor is he might be transferring also..
